I built up my early 70s (no serial no. which suggests that the bike might be from 1970-71) Fuji Finest this weekend. The pic was taken in low light. I really like the way the build came out with almost entirely Japanese parts (suntour derailleurs, superbe pro hubs, SR Apex triple crank 48/38/28, new winner freewheel 13-28, MKS pedals and toe clips, first gen dura ace brakes, nitto bar and stem) and 3 by 7 gearing. The one thing I am likely to change is the leather saddle from brown to black.

Found a unused ladies frame with this Cottered drivetrain. Fit right in to my moto frame. Rear derailer says Saxon for a brand. I had a suntour allready working on the bike so left that alone.

I still need to find a way to convince @gugie to let me cut to the head of the queue at the Atelier for some frame prep before the build, and I'm still waiting on a few parts to come in, but I hung what I've got on this and tried a couple sets of wheels to get a feel for the aesthetics.

as near as i can figure it is about 1985? the decals are different from my first one bought new in 1987
Models is a Mongoose ATB which is a poor cousin to the ATB PRO which had roller cam brakes and different gear.

No braze-ons for this one. Just some basic frame work like chasing the bottom bracket threads and tapping the hole for the cable guide.

Had an opportunity to disassemble an e-bike direct drive hub motor today. Belongs to a friend who was concerned about some noise, which turned out to be a bad drive side bearing. This is all new territory for me and I can say that it's not all that bikey. I had to dig out my automotive tools.

Didn't Need Them But Got Them Anyway
Saw these cheap when buying something else (not on a popular Auction Site) and though I could not justify needing them, I had to have them. That never happens to anyone else, does it? They were just too cool - and I got to use one of my favorite Campy tools for installation. If nothing else, they will at least: a) attract dirt and debris and b) give me an excuse for slowness due to the extra weight. Campagnolo Toe Clip Guides

I have a lot of wrenching that I want to do... but my workspace was a disgusting mess. I had some time today and spruced it up. It’s a lot easier to find tools when they aren’t laying all over the place. It’s clean... but there may be too much stuff in this space.

I do tend to fill my basement with old stuff. I got the chair and desk from work (going to the garbage.. unbelievable!) Check our the C&V fan in the background, that sucker might cut fingers off!

Love those tanker desks , I had two of them in my machine shop office . My favorite one I think was like the one in this picture , I can't see it but the right side leg was what they called a panel leg and the left side had the drawers . The other one I had was what they called a secretary desk , that thing was huge . On the left side was this cabinet that housed the type writer shelf , it was spring mounted on cantilever arms . You would push on it and out and up it swung . Sad day when I had to get rid of them , I wanted to keep the panel leg one but mswesti said no way .

@markwesti Here is a picture of the desk. I’m not sure what you call this layout, other than HEAVY! I had it dropped on my toes and knee when we moved it. I lost a toe nail and developed bursitis in my knee.

now all good apart from needing some replacement pads for the dia compe originals

I have been working thru the refurbishment of a couple Silca floor pumps. Of course replace the leather cup, the check valve, the hose, etc.
But I had one that was leaking down at the bottom ! Turns out there's a little O-ring at the bottom of the barrel. After 40 years plus maybe time to replace it. Ya think ?
Works great now, better than new !
I bought a bag of 30 O rings, if you need one let me know.

I did something dumb. I "upgraded" my single pivot Techkro 580 brakes to dual pivot (super SLR) Dura Ace 9000s and thought they felt a little weird. After finding out about compatibility I realize I have to either get new levers or older brakes.

Kind of off topic, but we are working on a barn find 1976 Honda Elsinore Cr 250.
Google it if you are interested.
I raced these for a shop in central Minnesota in the mid 70s.
It's in one big piece, but all consumables need to be replaced.
This one will keep us out of trouble for awhile.
So, C&V bikes are still interesting, but this thing is a beast.
