I've posted these before (and just recently in another thread).

I have a late 80's Giordana Capella frame that was designed by Dario Pegaretti for Gita and built by Billato. I need to move it up in the to be built cue so I can see how it rides.

I also have a pair of 1991 Lemond TeamZ wall hanger bikes with Campy C-Record gruppos. The frames were made by Billato for Lemond and Ten Speed Drive Imports (TSDI) who painted them in Florida. One has about 200 miles on it the other has never been on the street.

From a 2004 BF thread by a fellow named Bill who worked for TSDI:

" I worked in the paint shop at Ten Speed Drive Imports when that bike was sold. They were made by Belloto in Italy, imported into Florida and painted by a girl named Sue, I did the hand painting in the cut outs in the lugs and applied the decals. Needless to say, we sold a lot of those."

I guess I can now add my 6th Billato bike to this thread. A 1991 Giordana Polaris. SLX tubed frame with a very nice Dura Ace 7400 groupset.

Very nice!

What's the orientation of your rear brake bridge. Out of my 6 billato bikes the Gan is the only one oriented like this and I assume it's a mistake.

Brake bridge seems backwards.

Do have the red mixed in also?

interesting, my brake bridge is the other way and I don't have the red in the paint. Looks like the builder put the bridge on backward....or pantographed backward as the drilling for the brake can only be used one way...I think

Yeah, I wonder about the red. I've seen these both ways as well as a reference to some being a limited edition. Of course all that really matters is how well they ride.

Brake Bridge Orientation

Brake bridge seems backwards.
The the holes in the Silva brake bridges that Bilatto used were flush on the rear (caliper) side and recessed for the internal threaded nut on the front side.

This is a Bianchi badged Silva brake bridge They're precision investment castings and text is cast in. Why the text orientation changed could have been at the request of the bike maker or an... OH! S**T! problem???

Yep, I assume a mistake. But there was also supposedly a limit run of a set of these Gan bikes. There's some subtle differences from mine to any of the others I've seen. I've always wondered if maybe the reversed brake bridge was done on purpose to further distinguish these. That's just always speculation on my part.

Well, revived again so I guess I'll add on my two latest Billato built project. Both should be done within a month or so.

First is another Giordana XL Super being built up with Campy 10 Speed Record .

The other is a Giordana Scorpius. It's going to either be a Chorus 9 speed, Ultegra Triple or maybe a modern black groupset. Still not sure yet.

The consensus is that the Masi Nuovo Strada imported by TSD and painted in the US was built by the Billato brothers. I just finished this build a month or so ago. Rides beautifully with the Vittoria tubs.

More photos of the bike in this thread.

Is it is, or is it ain't? no one knows for sure, this bike is an enigma! I think this MAY be post Ten Speed Drive, since the brake bridge is not adorned with the bike rider logo. definitely (probably) late 80's.

How would I know if my Concorde was Billato built or not?
I have read elsewhere that it may have been built by Giovanni Pelizzoli while he was with Ciocc, but have nothing to confirm either way.
