Best career to have time for cycling?
After 20+ years as a law librarian, I've been laid off. I've spent close to a year doing a national job search, and have come in a "close second" numerous times. It's getting old.
So, I want to know what you all think is the best career for having time to cycle regularly, if not daily, and make at least $75K annually.
I'd appreciate serious replies only, but I know this place. The more serious, the better, but I'm sure I'll enjoy laughing at the less than serious.
Thanks for the help and ideas.

I work 4 10hr days so that gives me an extra day for cycling. The winter sucks with less light, but during the Spring/Summer I can ride everyday after work. Just under 100k in the mental health field.

Personal Trainer. I open up my schedule to have 2-3 hours open in the middle of the day... I have my bike hanging on the wall of the gym. If the weather is bad... I hook it to a trainer in the aerobics room and crank music on the big system... oh yeah! Plus, I have an entire gym at my disposal. Lastly, my work uniform is shorts and a t-shirt... and I have a hot tub, steam room, and sauna there and showers too.

75K a year means nothing unless you talk about location. 75K a year is peanuts if you live in Hawaii but is nearly a fortune if you live in Northern Michigan.
As for looking for a career from here, good luck. If you were 16, then we could tell you go to college and study "blah" and you may have a good chance of getting what you want, but at 40 something, unless your willing to go back to school, there is almost zero chance that we could recommend something that would work. I'm sure a brain surgeon might fit the bill, but are you qualified for that?
If you were to say, I have this degree, which qualifies me to do a, b, c, d, e, and f. Out of those, which would provide me with money + time, we could give you an okay answer, but just blindly looking for career advise is a waste of time and you know it.

The main thing is not being forced to work overtime. This depends more on the company than on the profession. At the company I've worked for/will work for when I graduate, the place is pretty deserted by 5 PM. 40hours/week is standard, and you can make your own hours for the most part, come in early/late, etc.
There's also flex time, which I worked. 4x10 and get Friday off (or Wednesday, or whatever). Go in early (about 6:30), leave by 4:30, and you've still got time to ride in the evening, plus a 3 day weekend.

Work for the government. They have pretty flexible schedules and get paid well (not fantastic, but well over your requirement for that level of experience I'm sure). Some people do the 9 days x 9 hour flex schedule and have a day or two per week working from home.

The trick is that the only way to make $75K at anything is to have a specialized skill. Most people don't have many different skills that will net them that kind of dough, so that's what will limit your choices. Actually, most people do not net that kind of dough even if they are skilled.
If you're coming in close second on these law librarian gigs (I'm assuming they pay $75K), you must be competitive. Keep chasing those, and then commute by bike to work when it hits.

To add to what banerjek and asmallsol have said. Might be worth while to look at why you are coming in "close second". What are the first pick candidates have that you don not, or maybe not advertising enough or presenting correctly.

work 24 on, 48 off as well as every other wednesday off. not to mention 75% of what your doing while "working" is/can be time spent in the gym.
sweet job. though your average 140 lb cyclist probably wont make it too far in the academy

It isn't what you do, it is where you do it. You need to work at whatever in a place you can cycle to as your commute. Then you ride every day, twice a day.
