Advice on a cool Kickstand for my Hybrid
Howdy!
I'm trying to get ideas and opinions on a nice, functional kickstand for my hybrid bike. It didn't come with one.
I kinda like the ones where they are mounted more towards the back of the wheel.
Comment? Opinions? Links?
Thanks!

I can't remember how much it cost. It was a cheap one. There are those that view them as a waste of money, time and weight, but I am glad I had it put on. It's a handy thing to have.

When I bought my 7100 I had the people at the bike shop put a standard old fashioned middle of the bike kickstand on it.

Yeah, "cool kickstand" probably ain't workin', but the Pletscher Multi Zoom rear mount has a certain style to it:

Rear mount is the only way to go. Center mount always gets in the way if you need to back your bike out of a tight parking space.

Makes a lot more sense to me to have a kickstand than to have to hunt around for something to lean my bike against. And is the overwhelming weight of it really an issue? Or are you just being silly?

Not having a kickstand on a utility bike is really stoopid.
It's a conditional thing...

Do like my Pletscher Zoom, it adjusts longer with bolts
between foot and arm.. and light weight. ..
longer does not work with a hacksaw.

I'd rather have a kickstand. Winning the Tour de France will have to wait.

This is a really nice one that I use. Heavy duty. More expensive than my cheapo Greenfields, but much more convenient to use.

Cool kickstand
My favorite is the dual legged Pletscher. It holds the bike vertically so it stays up better. Bit on the pricy side though and won't fit everything.

These Imperium Cycles/Cyclopedia kickstands are verging on being cool, what with the polished stainless and all, but they appear to be for folding bikes, the 18" or 20" wheeled kind, only. Too bad.

Seven also kicked out a pimpin' titanium dualie for their Berlin show bike. Again, verging on cool...I mean, the kickstand. The bike is certainly sick!:

Be careful if you don't have a kickstand plate that you don't crush the chain stays -- figure out a way to increase friction without gorilla torque on the bolt. I've seen pieces of tube wrapped around for this, friction tape would probably work too.
On a couple of bikes I own that are beaters I just jb welded the plates onto the chainstays under light-medium torque to avoid the issue of tightening too much vs. having the plates slide around. I don't recommend it to anyone because it's permanent, but for bikes I don't care a lick about and will never have a desire to remove the kicstand it works extremely well.

He's talking about the kickstands with a single mounting bolt and plate that sandwich the chain stay bars between the two plates by squeezing them together with the center bolt. He used JB Weld to secure those plates in place on the chain stay bars instead of putting a ton of torque on that center bolt, which could potentially crush the chain stay bars.

Cool kickstand is an oxymoron. But I've had two passerbys tell me how "cool" my pletscher double was, its delivers a "how can that work" impression to people.
But I've gone over the dark side; pulled off all my kickstands except for one commute bike. Besides the weight, I would argue they rob a bike of its ....artfulness.
