BikeForums site draining laptop battery
I though I would mention here in the event this sites administrator may (or may not) make use of my experience. This site provides great information but there is one major problem, The scripts, whether it be flash( as suspected) or other, use extraordinary amounts of processor cycles. On my laptop, when the forums site is open, my battery life is cut to less than half than with other comparable content sites. The problem is present in Windows 7 /Firefox 64bit, Windows7/Chrome 64bit, Linux(ubuntu 11.10)/Firefox 64 bit. The site carries this problem through both operating systems. cheers!

It is the Flash enabled web advertisements within the forum pages. I have pretty much confirmed this by process of elimination. The Chrome web browser does not have an easy method to enable/disable Flash extensions. SO if one visits the forum page(s) and is blessed with some heavy Flash enabled advertisements while using Chrome, he or she must deal with the processor hit put on by Flash, or leave the page, more or less. However, if you use Firefox, you may simply disable the Flash content that is rendered by your browser by going to >TOOLS>ADD-ONS> flash. One then will not experience the battery drain that a user whom leaves Flash enabled will experience. I prefer the non Flash design. Adds are ok, but Flashing and animated adds are a bit noisy, and as in this example a major inconvenience. cheers!

You can also avoid the ads entirely by upgrading, FWIW. You can upgrade at https://www.bikeforums.net/payments.php or just click the subscribe link at the top of the page, and get other benefits like Photo Albums, Creation of Social Groups, larger avatar, no ads, embedded video, etc.
