And one more thing from this woman. Joe Biden has been killed. The man in the Whitehouse is a double, a plant, who will bring about the revolution that failed when Trump's attempted coup failed. If you look closely at the earlobes.... they're different from what we saw on the campaign trail.

She needs a shave with Occam's Razor. The thing about CT believers is that they're incredibly gullible and lacking in any real skepticism, while firmly believing THEY are the skeptical ones and those who believe in reality are the gullible ones. Ever tried to keep a secret among even 3 people? How'd that work out? Now imagine keeping a secret like faking the moon landing among THOUSANDS for over 50 years.

Any of you addicts know how to stop an iPhone from going to landscape view if it's rotated? I did it once before but cannot remember how. For some reason, it has started going to landscape again. Might have been caused by a recent software update.

Texas is officially a third-world country. AG and I alone of our circle have never lost power during this because we happened to luckily have a house on a circuit with a hospital. The fresh hell is no water (though we have a few days' worth for drinking from jugs and bottles we had purchased for road trips back in those days). Roads are largely impassable. If we have no burst pipes, which knock on wood seems the case now, we will high-tail it to Lubbock for at least the weekend when it's above freezing consistently.
Lubbock is not on the main Texas electrical grid.

Not like every house around us; our neighborhood contains a hospital. They are unable to shut us off without also shutting off the hospital, which they haven't done. We're still only using ultra-low-power devices and the router. And one light switch when the sun is down.

I didn't realize how bad things were down there until I started digging through Twitter and some local message boards today.
Seems like an absolute nightmare.

Hopefully Mojo31 is doing OK
It's been cold, and we've had our share of ice and snow. We lost power at about 4:30 Monday morning. After sitting in a dark house without heat, we packed camping gear and drove to my office building to see if power was on there. It was so we bunked there until mid-day yesterday. We wanted to check on the house, and when we arrived we had power. Having a Jeep with offroad tires has been a godsend, and has given us some mobility. The roads are snow and ice packed (there are no plows or other removal equipment sufficient for this type of thing). Would not want to be out driving anything else.
As the place warmed up, we had a copper pipe to one of the tankless water heaters in the attic burst. Most of the water was caught by the drain pan under it, but we did get water damage in our dining room. Fortunately, it is not bad and will be easily repaired. Water to about half the house is shut off, but we still have water in our master bath and one other. Laundry and kitchen water is off. Heat is on in the entire house.
The pool is frozen solid. Time will tell what damage is there. At the end of the day, any damage to the house and pool can be fixed. we are fortunate to have places to stay where it is warm, although sleeping on the concrete floor in my office was no fun.
We spent yesterday cleaning up water, wet insulation, and working on getting other frozen lines thawed. Our bath is on a northwest corner, so our sinks and tub were frozen. Got those thawed without incident about 10:00 pm. Worried about the outside hose bibs next.
Today, we have been reaching out to people we know to see if anyone needs a warm place to sleep, eat, or just hang out. So far, everyone we've contacted (except one that I haven't heard back from) is either okay in their place or is staying with family or friends.
Our daughter's place in Dallas has been unscathed although her boyfriend's place is without water due to a pipe break. She and her two roommates are now host to seven friends without power, and they have seven dogs (six are guest dogs) in their place as well.
Our son's apartment building in College Station has managed to keep its power on while there are widespread power outages and ice in that area. He has been providing friends and others the use of his place as a place to keep warm and fed.
We are really fortunate to have the resources and means that we have. Between the house and the office building, we have a warm place, food, water, and the ability to go just about anyplace we need or want to go. There are a lot of people in this area who are not so fortunate and are really suffering.
This type of event would be routine in areas farther north. For us, it's pretty bad, especially with no power.

I've got my version of milk, bread and eggs. A whole pompano and some pre-made B'sprouts tonight. Pork chops with sauteed zucchini, onions and habanero peppers for tomorrow's dinner. Got a couple bagels and will pick up some fruit on the way home.
Definitely working from home tomorrow as the storm is supposed to ramp up right around go to work time. Still looking at 3-6".

My sister reports that her Grandson in Dallas, along with his wife and MIL, moved in with MIL's sister, because her house has a fireplace. And it suffered a burst pipe anyway. But at least they're okay, or as okay as they can be in the situation.
This is nutz.

Just found out that the sprinkler system in our daughter's condo is frozen and the fire alarm is sounding. Fingers crossed on that one that it doesn't trigger the sprayers when it thaws or break a line.
Don't know about the palm trees. It has not been like this in the 40 years I've been here. I do have a new ice rink.
As bad as it is, we are healthy, have a warm place to stay, have food, and are safe. We also have toilet paper and flushing toilets. Things could be a lot worse.
