54 Miles on a much cooler day then the record highs we've been enjoying lately. Just one of the usual out and back rides I do. Put a new chain on the bike yesterday and cleaned up the bike.Had a good day.

Rode 23 miles this morning. This is the most of have done since I was diagnosed with lumbar spinal stenosis. It felt good to be out for a bit longer today. I have been slowly increasing my miles after being off the bike for two weeks in January.

Went on a Club ride today, got put in a group of six. They intentionally cut the route short due to an impending threat of rain, but we still got soaked. Wound up with about 35 miles.

River Ride, my normal Saturday morning ride. Big group, fast group. Didn't have the greatest legs, so I had to use all my wily old man powers to stay attached. On days like today with a north wind, there's a long straight tailwind section that leads to a sweeping turn to a crosswind (known as The Sweeper, obviously). Strong guys at the front were trying to split the group so it ramped up to 40. I hardly ever have to use my 11, but on days like today, I'm glad I had it on this wheelset.

2.5 hours. 51miles door to door.

Back to the low 40's, with overcast, but No rain.

One of my somewhat standard solo around the blocks and back and forth. 6 miles, and no garage sales today.
Around one hour.
Rode the Viking i am working to rebuild, and continue to think it will be a solid runner when done.

Then it was the trike back to the library and the book sale they are having today.
Got a shopping bag of paperbacks for 1 buck. About 25 books. Another 1 mile plus.

Hoping to find one or two out of the bunch that's worth reading.

17 miles Saturday afternoon. I'd planned to ride farther but I kept waiting for the weather to improve and it got worse instead of better. Cold front coming in. So when the forecasted 45 degrees turned out to be closer to freezing, I tried the aluminum foil in the socks trick (it worked, sort of) and went for a quickie.

Not bad at all. But the aluminum foil really should be in the form of foil lined Mylar built into a toe cover or foot cover for road bike shoes. The foil inside the shoes got uncomfortable after an hour -- too tight on top of the toes. But it works to reflect heat without getting sweaty.

.7 miles Sat. Got hit by a heavy wind, turned around and went home.
5.1 miles (8.1k) Sun. Tried to ride but it was just too cold (31°) and cloudy—miserable.

I got 32 miles in on Wrightsville Beach this morning. Amazing how warm it was for Feb. 72 out and a strong south wind which made it fun going north but a workout going south.

Did a group MTB ride with Champaign Cycle today in very icy, slick conditions. Snow, covered with 1/2 inch of freezing rain. My poor 15 year old girl was up for it, but has only ridden singe track once, and not in these conditions. She fell several times, but refused to quit. She loves to ride, but has decided that she vastly prefers dry pavement to what we did today....

10 miles Monday night, casual ride just to stretch the legs after overdoing the calf raises and lunges this weekend. First time I've had sore muscles in awhile.

It is allegedly 50F, but with a strong cold SW wind, it feels a lot less. I decided to bundle up and managed to ride 122 minutes.
I also had a close call with a cager on a busy thoroughfare who acted like he was going to do a right hook on me, but stopped short of doing it.

Scouted a 40 mile route with the missus this morning, starting at 6:00AM. You know what sucks more than trying to squeeze in 40 miles before work on a cold, damp, dark-turning-to-gray morning? Trying to squeeze in 40 miles before work on a cold, damp, dark-turning-to-gray morning at the height of mid-week rush hour!

...on roads littered with potholes!

Oh, and just to add even more excitement, at mile 22 the missus hit some black ice and went down. Having just spent most of the past year off the bike due to a hip injury, she was completely freaked out (since she landed on her hip), but managed to pull herself together and ride the rest of the route. Adrenaline is some powerful stuff.

62 miles on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon/evening, about 40 miles solo, the rest with friends. Windy, about 15-20 mph, but temperature was perfect, 70-80F. Needed that for stress and anxiety relief. Been a tough year so far.

First time out on a new bike and its been since I was a teen that I have ridden one. I am 73 and with a prosthetic left leg, I just wasn't sure how it would work out but it was good. I didn't ride but 2 miles but could have rode more but didn't want to push it. Went through all the gears changes and made sure the brakes worked good. I'm very excited about getting some much needed exercise and will ride again this week much farther. I thought I would be sore but things are looking good so far.

A typical 40 mile morning ride today. Started off very foggy so I had to put the lights on the bike. It took a while to clear up but when it did, it turned out to be a beautiful day with temps in the 80s.

With temperatures finally above freezing, the roads were safe enough to ride on without studded tires. Got in a little over an hour on my brand new bike this morning on the streets of my neighborhood before I had to go to work. First time I was able to ride it since I picked it up during a massive snowstorm last weekend.

We are experiencing fog since there is so much snow on the ground (we got 19 inches during a 9 day streak of measurable snowfall) and now it is finally starting to melt. It wasn't foggy at 6:30am when I was out, but sure was foggy at 9am when I was heading to work. Hasn't improved during the day.

13.2 miles, breezy, 50F, yesterday we had 50-65mph winds so even with a 60F+ temp, it was too dangerous to ride!! Today winds much calmer, trying to get in the miles to get my recumbent legs back on the new trike!
