Anyone know where I can get some plugs for the frame holes?
I took the water bottle cage off my carbon road bike, and I'd like the plug the holes with something lightweight and easy to remove. Any thoughts? Should my LBS have something like this? I don't really know what to search for, "Bike Frame Hole Plugs" doesn't exactly work.

+1 There are plastic plugs you can get, but they often break and can be a pain to remove- I just use the bolts.

I ride a touring bike, so I have lots of eyelets and rack mounts that need plugging. I used some small auto panel fasteners that I found a my local hardware store. They work great.

I think those bolts will slow you down - after all, they're made of metal.

The bolts are actually kind of rusted. I considered getting new bolts, but I want something that's easy to remove, and looks nicer. Those plastic inserts look perfect; if I took a sharpie to them they'd totally blend in with the dark frame.
Thanks!

There used to be "alloy" (i.e. aluminum) 5mm bolts available in a variety of colors and lengths that were particularly good weight-weenie items. They weren't particularly strong but they were light and good enough for bottle cages. Check to see if your LBS has them.

And I thought those old pens were only good for shooting spitwads.

I bought stainless allen head bolts in bulk. I use them on all of my bikes. You can buy 100 bolts for next to nothing from any decent bolt house (Fastenal, etc). I do use antisieze on them.
While you can find some of them at Lowes or Ace Hardware, for the price of a handful of them, you could buy 100 of them from a bolt supply store.

Any hardware store that has those small slide out drawer sections full of bolts you should be able to find something. The Ace/truevalue hardware stores have a better selection than lowes or home depot. You can get stainless button head, nylon, black hardened etc.

I sold the bike.
I was just trying to pretty it up, so I ended up just taking the bolts and some of the decals totally off for a cleaner look, and I got what I was looking for, so I'm happy!

I found them
I am a serious cyclist with about five bikes and no car. So I pursued this and found Christmas tree plugs at non-ferrous that work really well. I'm selling the rest of them on ebay. Look for them under:
"Bike Frame Hole Plugs" You are welcome to buy them yourself, but the shipping is high and you end up with too many. They have a big enough cap on them to really cover and they fit well.
