As is customary in these forums, a guy asks a simple question and many choose to give him a complicated answer. I thought he asked:
1) your age
2) average weekly miles that you commute
I didn't see the part where he asked for different seasonal averages, how far you used to go, how far you plan to go, or far you ride your bike including the weekends, a good week, or a bad week. Maybe his statistical study has nothing to do with correlating age to miles. Maybe his statistical study is how many responses he gets that answer the question vs. how many responses he gets that don't answer the question without a lot of embelishment. See... now I can be added to the "embelishment group" for this response.

As is customary in most forums, somebody starts a conversation, and in the middle of the conversation, some other troll comes along to tell us we're doing it wrong. Lo, that we could all be so perfect!

Just started commuting long distance (I moved north of the city) about a month ago and I am loving it for the base miles I put down. So it's 40 miles round trip. Avg ~120 commute miles a week in addition to group rides.

75 commuting miles/week
Dropped from 125 commuting miles/week when the brevet season started. I chopped a couple commuting days to use as rest and recovery days around long weekend rides.

Your point? Are you the poll police? Who says the additional info is not useful?
As is customary in most forums, somebody starts a conversation, and in the middle of the conversation, some other troll comes along to tell us we're doing it wrong. Lo, that we could all be so perfect!

should we discuss lights and tires here, too (might be useful additional information.)
No, I am not the police (did I say that I was?)
Perfect?... Me? I didn't say it... you did.
If, when you read my comment, you felt like you were doing it wrong... then maybe you were? I was just posting my observations... I didn't say that you were doing it wrong. In fact, I saw a lot of comments that were posted exactly the way that I thought they would be. If you have more information that you would like to post, and you feel that it might be useful to me and everyone else... feel free... I think that is what this community is about. However, sometimes you will get feedback that you don't care for.
I don't know why I took the time to respond????

Wow, I'm impressed how many 40+ commuters. I figured it would be skewed to college age.
