Why do some people choose to sandbag?

Okay, so in reality I was so done that I never got out of the saddle, but once it gets to the internet it'll be a different story.

I'm pretty sure CDR had old school computers with speed sensors and incorrect wheelsize settings.

No fight from me there! West coast rap has always been ****.
Except for Del & the Hieroglyphics crew, and maybe a smattering of others I'm forgetting.

My last race I avg about 145w and didn't get out of the saddle when the sprint started because I was already so exploded. I think my max speed that race was 33 mph or something. I looked, it was 35.6 mph in Strava. It was a race where I did nothing, no sprint, no attack, no whatever, at New Britain / Nutmeg. Don't know SRM data as the download data computer is down.

Mind you, this was 1992, and I might be off by a couple bucks here and there.
US: $30? license, $20? per race. Prizes set by promoter. Costs borne by promoter.
Belgium: $300 license, $3 per race ($2 refunded if you gave your number back). Basing this off of a very rough 100 Belgian francs per dollar. Prizes seemed to be either 20 places or 40 places, preset prize amounts. In Belgium at least there was betting on the races, and buying just the start sheet cost money if you weren't a racer (about $1, and everyone was buying one).
I think there was just one race per province at the time (March) but by mid season it was more like 5-7 races. In the early season the races had large fields, typically just under 200 riders, but by mid season virtually everyone would place in a 40 place race.
I don't know who covers the cost of promoting races. It might be like soccer leagues here where there's a substantial base of funds because of annual dues and such. It could be government. In Holland (not sure of Belgium) I know that there are dedicated courses in parks with permanent structures for promoting races.

I may disagree with some stuff said on the forums but I'm not continually bringing them up, over and over and over and over.
