+1 to the ride to work today
i had to work at 1 so it was pretty clear by then, and amazingly slushy/skidtastic on the side roads.
lots of fun

Philip:
I'll stick my head in Cyclemania tomorrow and check the studded tires they have there. I saw some today but didn't bother to look at what they were in terms of size, price.

Sweet, thanks Pyze... PS, to nitpick it's Phillip technically (fun fact: it's the Welsh spelling thanks to the nurse who wrote my birth certificate being Welsh - I was born very close to the England/Wales border.)
I agree re: braking - though I do like to still have them, I prefer the predictability of my legs vs. the "will it or won't it work" of rim brakes. I bought a pair of the el-cheapo pads from MEC to put on for the winter, I didn't think it was worth the bother for Koolstops with all the salt/gritty junk that's already been coating the bike.
I've just mopped my drivetrain down, leaving the chain in some cleaner for a bit to try and get all the nasties out.
I don't think I'll bother washing the rest of the bike until the weekend, might actually take it in the bathtub for the first time - it's bloody filthy.
A deal maker with my ladyfriend.. I asked "Would you be pissed off if I brought my bike into the shower if we lived together?". She said "No" with the caveat "so long as you clean any mess you make" - she definitely wins for that She also asked me if I would (literally) sleep with my bike... I answered "well, if it wasn't so dirty... maybe" which might not have been the right answer

another good roadie shop near yonge and lawrence is off dufferin between lawrence and eglinton... high end road stuff... totally forget the name. I usually just roll to urbane unless i'm really hard pressed...
Seems we've got a bunch of guys around yonge and 401/lawrence area. I always see one guy on a black fixed with reflective tape on the rear dropouts with deep V's... and another black jamis sputnik (debadged) with horns i think locked up in the area.

Ah sorry Phillip,
I still have a front brake on both bikes, just use them as little as possible in the winter.

Haha Stuart... *cues music* bowow-chicka-chicka-bowow....
That Tandem vid was intense... and you just know they're trying so damn hard to take the speed out of it before they toppled... Wow. Well held, though - that's some impressive stuff. Would love to try a ride on a tandem, but I don't know about track/fixed tandem - I didn't actually know they had events for them The stoker looks like he took a rough fall/got winded ... oof.
Duppys Jamie Roy, mayhaps?

Witness the North American Duppy in his natural habitat. This particular Duppy has been witnessed many times in this part of the conservation area. His radio tag has allowed us to track his movements both before and after his species' odd safety meetings.
So I says to Mable I says

Since the main forum is of no help,
I keep throwing the chain on my bike. For 6 months never once did it come off, and now 3 times in 2 weeks, and several otheer times I've heard it catch on the cog. The chainline has always been about 3mm off. I swapped out the original cog that went on with the new chain and ring when I built it. I figure it is either the cog not matching well with the chain, or the 8 speed sram chain I have on now developing too much side to side flex.
Any ideas? I don't want to get a new cog only to find out that it might not be the problem.
