KIDS RIDE CLUB 2013
Recycle-A-Bicycle (RAB) has begun its 18th season of Kids Ride Club. Working in partnership with Woodhull Hospital, New York Cycle Club, PS 257, and IS 318, Kids Ride Club creates an environment where the triumph of a program is not just getting kids on bikes.
Every spring, summer, and fall, more than 100 young people ages 10-17 join RAB and our community partners for this comprehensive cycling program. Participants learn first-hand about the benefits of healthy living and safe cycling throughout the streets of NYC and beyond. Every year, Kids Ride Club participants collectively pedaled more than 10,000 miles and collectively burned more than 1,500,000 calories.
Kids Ride Club attracts 85-100 regular youth that partake regularly in the 18 week cycling program. In addition, parents and educators volunteer to create a ratio of 1 adult for every 3-5 youth. Kids Ride Club creates an environment where the triumph of a program is not just getting kids on bikes, but it's a program where schools, parents, physical health, and nutrition all play an important role in building a supportive, nurturing and truly nourishing environment to properly instill and grow a love for living healthy in the young people of New York City.
