I am looking to buy a used road bike. Can anyone tell me what a 2008 scott s20 speedster is worth?

I just looked on Bicycle Blue Book.

MSRP - $1,370
Private Party Sale - $242 ~ $249
Trade In - $157 ~ $162

I'm pretty sure I have the right bike but I suggest you go to the site to make sure
And I have no experience with BBB whether their figures reflect reality or not

2 years ago I bought a new Tiagra 4700 disc brake bike for less than that. Sure, you can expect a pandemic markup, but $700 for a 12-13 year old bike is laughable.

A bike is worth a buyer will pay, not what a seller wants. Sellers always overvalue a bike and rightly they should to maximize their return. If the OP thinks that the BB resale price is too low, he is free to pay whatever he feel the bike is worth to him.

Bicycle blue book is definitely on the low side, but it gives a good starting number. Read one article alleging BBB was created by bike manufacturers so they can buy used bikes on the cheap allowing their shops to resell them at a markup.

Keep in mind used bikes are selling for a premium in the current market.
