Specifically, commonly found mid-calf socks that you could stuff your pant legs into. I wear holes into the pads of my feet in everything I've tried (currently killing off the last of some Dickies). It may take a year for a package of socks to wear down but I'm wondering what may last longer.

I've had 1 paid of these for hiking for about 3 years. They still look like new socks that have been washed once. (I swear I've washed them numerous times)

the socks I've been using for my PT 2nd job that requires up to 24,000 steps per shift have been Craftsman Men's 2pk Steel Toe Boot Socks. they came in white & black. they have extra thick toe & heel sections. can't find them anywhere anymore tho ...

Wool will wear out , Hole, .way before synthetics, like Polyesters.. so accept the choice you make..

I never wear cotton socks because I tend to grow fungus. Cotton socks hold moisture against the feet. I prefer wool, but synthetic is OK, too. I've been wearing Gold Toe crew length socks for a long time. I think they are 15% nylon, and that makes them durable. I get mine in black. I have only one kind of sock, so orphans aren't so troublesome. These socks have become hard to find but not impossible. I hear good things about the Darn Tough socks.

Ha ha, I'm like that too - being that I go through socks, I want a big batch of the same brand/fit!

Ohhh, I thought you meant for winter socks. I wear a blended crew cotton/polyester sock in the summer that was marketed as a "running sock" but was too heavy and clumped when running so now I wear them for cycling

Every pair of socks we now own are Darn Tough. I have yet to wear a hole in one.

I started wearing Swiftwicks when I took up riding 4-5 years ago. I've worn out exactly one pair because I was not nice to them and kept overwearing them and putting them in the dryer.

If you line dry them (I have a coathanger with about 30 clothespins attached to it for this purpose) they will last even longer.

Currently I have Performance 7" that I wore to work, and to ride, commute, and everything else. I pay full retail for absolutely nothing, but these socks....

The only time I don't wear them is if I'm riding MTB in May-October (it's foxtail season in California), It's too hard to extract them out of Swiftys,

Darn Tough. I just replaced all my socks with them. They're nice, and totally guaranteed, so it seems like they're worth the steep price.

I wear darn tough socks too. I have about 8 pair but that wasnt always the case. As a full-time truck driver, manually delivering food to commercial restaurants by running up and down a ramp with a loaded two wheeled dolly, I cant think of much else that would test the durability of a sock. I have gone through three pairs and never had a problem with getting a replacement. I've since switched to a data analysis job where as you can imagine, the socks get less stress.

I cant tell you enough how much those socks are worth the cost. They're awesome.

I've been riding Sockguy 50/50 wool blend socks for many years. They last forever, are cool in summer, warm in winter, and don't get skanky. Design choices are personal, but no-one messes with T-Dragonbreath or Sock-monkeyboy.

inexpensive 100% (or close) polyester socks that cost $4 a pair are just as good as 100% (or close) polyester socks that cost $20 a pair, sure the more expensive ones may last twice as long, so what? so you pay $8 for two pair instead of $20 for one pair every 3 or so years, after 12 years you would have spent $32 for the cheaper ones vs $80 for more expensive ones. same thing is true with jerseys too, but cheaper fails miserably with shorts

I wear thorlo light hiker socks for biking, and for everyday wear. Thorlo LTHW (women). They are breathable. The ones that I got about 6 years ago lasted roughly 4 years. The men's equivalent is LTH. I turn them inside out for laundering.
