Volkswagen Beetle (pre 2010) owners! Fitting your folder in the trunk?

I'm looking to get a Euromini Zizzo Urbano (folding dimensions 31x27x12.5) and without it in hand, I'm really not sure if it can be finagled to fit inside a trunk like this! It's a two door and has special edition upholstery, so I'm really hoping I don't have to put it on my back seat / remove a wheel. Any VW Beetle owners or those with similarly small / oddly shaped trunks able to fit a folder close to those dimensions that in the trunk? My trunk is 18.5" under the cover, 33" wide (40-ish" wide at the bottom) and 25" deep. It's an odd shape! Thank you for your help!

i have a 2000 beetle, and i just fold the back seat up and the seat back down. i can carry the radmini folder (ebike) in that space, and any of my Dahons. i actually just leave it that way, as it's just my car... the wife has a 4 runner for grand kids and grocery runs.

2006 diesel beetle (AKA the Beasal) here:

Yes should fit, I was regularly carried a Dahon Speed TR or a Dahon mariner in the trunk. Both bikes been sold but I still put a BF Tikit back there.

You mean the Rear air cooled engine ones ?
BITD there was an aftermarket hood/bonnet, for a rolls royce look ,
which would add space under it...

No Car, I own a Brompton..

I could bag it , or, lay down a plastic tarp, and put it in the back seat.. of your car..

Second generation, aka "New Beetle". The only way you get a 21st century Type 1 is go import one in from Mexico.

Oh wow! He removed the seat post and managed to get it in a trunk even smaller than mine and the Dahon Boardwalk isn't much smaller than the Urbano! That's only like 5 cubic feet!? Thank you for sharing this. That's really reassuring! My trunk is a little heavier and comes out a bit further so at least I'll have a place to rest it while I try to finagle it! The newer beetle has a bit more space than mine, but in that one he didn't need to remove the seat post. I'm fine with removing a seat post if I have to, haha.

Thank you all for your help on this! I do prefer 20" wheels, but I also want the bike to fit in the trunk if at all possible and I know it tends to be a lot harder when the dimensions are on the border like this.
