Any advantages/disadvantages going from Ultegra to XT rotors?
I have a pair of brand new Shimano XT SM-RT86-S 160mm rotors that would like to mount on my girlfriends bike. She currently rides a Liv Langma with Ultegra 160/140mm rotors. Both rotors are the 6-bolt type. I'm aware you need a TPI 140-160mm adaptor. Pic of her bike is posted below. Thanks!

I have both. The XT rotors on my flat bar road bike, heat up and distort on even moderate descents and then make that zing zing sound that drives me crazy. Once the rotor cools, it is fine. On my Ultegra I go from 80 km to 0 without a peep. I assume the cooling fins are working. The XT's look ten times nicer so there is a trade off. With that said I think you will be fine replacing them.
BTW beautiful workspace.

I use the latest centerlock XT rotors on my road bike and they work fine, no issues, and I do plenty of descending, typical weekly riding these days is about 200-250km with 2500-3000m elevation gain. They are light and look super cool.
Can sometimes howl a bit in the rain bit that might be the pads or whatnot.
