bigger wheels for jamix x2

I'm thinking of buying a Jamis X2. It's a crappy mountain bike, but I want to put together more like a hybrid, and I want something that will take disc brakes, and the more upright geometry on the 2011 X2 could make this a descent street/gravel/mup rider.

That model comes with 26" wheels, though. Older models used 27.5", but IDK if they made significant changes to the frame or not.

I'd like to put 700c wheels on it. Anybody familiar with this bike at all? Can I fit 700cs on it?
