Chainlove good deal or no?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Chainlove good deal or no?

At first I thought Chainlove was pretty awesome, there are deals that pop up and some of it seems like pretty good deal. 60% off! 70% off! OMG I HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW!!!!

Then I check Amazon, and the very same thing is for sale $10 less and free shipping ... I check pretty regularly on the clothing deals, and this seems to consistently be the case.

Has anyone else noticed this?

They used to be a lot better when Bonktown was around. They used to have things at 90% off

Most of the deal sites are like that. Prey on peoples idea that if it says sale then it must be a good deal.

Some of their clearance deals on parts and clothing are good. Capo Drago jersey for $100 when the retail sites have it at $150. Earlier today they had a Rotor 3D+ compact for $238... if you could use a 175mm arm length.

Yes, the bulk of what they put up is nothing special, but it's worth keeping an eye on.

I let it run in the background at work. If I buy anything, I choose to have my order held so I can add items and only pay $.99 shipping.

But yeah, before I pull the trigger, I usually check a few other sites. Yesterday, there was a rain coat up for sale for $37.99...while it was was on CompetitiveCyclist (backcountry = comp cyclist = chainlove) for $40. If you were smart, you would have done combine shipping with something else and got it from CC for $40, if you were dumb, you could have gotten it from Chainlove for $2 cheaper + $6 s/h.

Just because it looks like a deep discount sale site, doesn't mean they always have the best deals.

As with most any site, some of the "deals" they post will actually be deals, the rest will not.

All I know is they have a lot of size small for women. So, instead of saving money I end up buying a lot of treats for my cycling wife.
