I once had a co-worker from Houston who swore it was the best place on earth to skateboard, if it was skateboard friendly I can't imagine it being a bad place for cycling. Hot, but then they do have winter there at some point.

We now have an entire network of concrete 2 way bike trails. Of course everyone thinks it's their personal full kit race training track now. 29ers and roadies alike will yell for anyone riding slower to "Get out of the way" etc. They want to ride 25-30 mph, and everyone else be damned. Of course the dog walking, cellphone talking, strolling, jogging with headphones, walking babies in strollers, being completely oblivious to anyone else, people think it's their path too. But when the roadies, 29ers, dog/baby walkers and the like stay home, then it's quite a bit of fun.,,,,BD

It's growing daily...!! It's nice not to be honked at, yelled at by ignorant drivers, and possibly getting run over because someone had a bad day or a long night.

Guilty . Well sort of... I use Terry Hershey from time to time and do pass a lot. But I am always courteous about announcing that I am passing on the left as well as hollering out how many leeches are behind me sucking on my wheel.

That said, H-town has a looooong way to go before they can start boasting about their bike trails IMO. They have a lot of little segments but can't seem to weave them together without making you spend time along some ridiculously busy highway.

I miss the trails in the western Chicago burbs. I could put in a 60 miler and still have alternate route choices.

I spend 7 weeks there working at HLSR and ship a bike. I ride on the trail next to the, ummm concrete river? Braes Bayou I think that goes from down there NW to over yonder. You do have to cross some roads but it gets the job done. I put some 28's on my Serotta.

I absolutely adore the random weight claims that pop up on craigslist. I can just imagine this person holding a gallon of water in one hand and the bike in the other hand and thinking, "The bike weighs approximately 1.5 times the weight of this jug of water according to my scales of justice."

Put some Spinergys on your late 80's Rockhopper and call it a road bike!

SPECIALIZED ROAD BIKE WITH CARBON FIBER SPINERGY RIMS $300/OBO - $300 (Eau Claire, WI)

SPECIALIZED ROAD BIKE WITH CARBON FIBER SPINERGY RIMS $300/OBO

Up for sale, I have a Specialized road bike with carbon fiber Spinergy rims that is in excellent working condition although there are signs of minor rust and scratches on the exterior of the bike's frame from regular use (see attached photographs). Despite the minor aesthetic damage to the frame, all other components are in great looking and excellent working condition. Rims alone were over 400 dollars a piece so please respect the sale price and don't send me a low-ball offer. I am only interested in cash. NO TRADES. DO NOT CONTACT ME ABOUT OTHER SERVICES, PRODUCTS, OR COMMERCIAL INTERESTS. If you wish to contact me with an offer or questions, I can be reached by text (NO CALLS) at (218) TwoSixNine - SixOneTwoSix.

Auction includes:
- Specialized Frame (53cm)
- Specialized - Body Geometry Seat
- Touring Handlebars with Cross County Grips
- Cycling Power Meter (magnetic sensor needs new battery) (see photos)
- Metal Carrying Rack (hardware included) (see photos)
- Pair of carbon fiber Spinergy Rims (see photos)
- Pair of road tires/tubes (no issues) (plenty of tread) (see photos)
- Shimano Deore Light Action (21 speed)
- Shimano front/rear brakes
- Shimano brake levers
________________________________________________________________

If you pay asking price, I have a set of extra road tires and dirt tires in excellent condition that I will include in the sale. Thanks for taking a look!

My turn to post something humorous (and right near me)...and I'm looking at them on Tuesday and am leaning toward picking them up--to flip at the very least but we will see. I would have done it yesterday but the seller responded that she had been instructed by a local hospital to come in and induce labor. WHOA. Yeah, we can resume our discussion whenever you want--she did suggest Tuesday...oh boy.

The red one is in my size, which was the primary draw. Probably no more remains of the Campy Triomphe grouppo even though there are no drive side photos. I had Triomphe on my Ross (and put it on a Trek that I was selling), and the shifters, cranks, heck the wheels don't look original. It'll be some work.
