OT Altitude Camp
Three nights at ~8000 ft. Two 13 mile days hiking with a full pack and a couple easier days. Stunning views of mountains, alpine lakes and wildflowers. Not exactly anything to do with bike racing, but maybe I'll get a slight boost from the time at altitude?

Sounds awesome. If nothing else it should relax/reset you.

I bet you will get a hematocrit increase. However, you may not be any faster. Great picks.

Ha Ha. At altitude, as the body adapts to lower O2 and lower pressure, blood composition changes but one also begins to lose VO2 capability and muscle mass. Hence, the sleep high train low protocol. Get blood adaptation by sleeping and training high but keep VO2 max capability and strength by doing interval training low or some combination that works for the athlete. World tour racers do the altitude block at Tenerife in the Canary Islands that offers high altitude accommodations and low altitude riding as well.
