Last Sunday's ride
I bought this bike from the original owner in 2015 who used to live in Cupertino. He had bought it for his wife , who hated the bike . Consequently it never got ridden. At 78 years old he sold his bikes and I was in the right place at the right time. I tried to get info on Stan's Cyclery but they have been gone for a while. It was a time capsule, all original with the correct Brooks Professional(correct date stamp) saddle and everything. I ride it a lot and love this bike. It would be cool to know a little about the bike shop that sold it. Joe joesvintageroadbikes.wordpress

The Highwheeler was a north Dallas bike shop that closed sometime late in the last century. They didn’t put stickers on their bikes, they hand painted their name tastefully on the top tube. Here’s my 1973 Mercian Vincitore.

I did reach out right after I bought the bike via email and got a response from someone who knew or was the brother of the owner . I emailed that person and never heard back . Perhaps I should revisit this. Thank you Joe

I also feel that keeping the discussion alive on any of this helps insure less of it becomes lost for good.

Not mine, but you don't often see shop sticker photos posted in a CL ad. This one is on a Ross Eurotour from Brooklyn and the shop may no longer be in business.

First word is "Harry's"
Shop decades gone. Was at first unable to look up address as first digit of the four digit street number has been obliterated. (street numbers in this neighbourhood are four digit)
By digging into back telephone directories was able locate it - 7915 Santa Monica Blvd. Transfer is of course pre-zip code, today it is 90069.
Research determines address no longer exists. Evidently smaller buildings demolished to make room for a larger one...

Visited the Redwood City location two or three times in the late '70's and early .80's.
As recalled, it was located on the east side of El Camino in a light green storefront.

I really enjoyed this thread. Especially having visited a number of the shops shown.
Somebody should try re-popping some of the better stickers. The "Dick Power" sticker is very cool.
List member Gugie sent me a wonderful "Hans Ohrt" sticker that is on my Mark I Raleigh Pro.
Looking into my archives I found this sticker which was given to me by Spence Wolf in about 1980. It dates from the 60s.

Good shot of a Turin sticker in a CL ad locally for a Motobecane Nobly 3-speed. Unfortunately, the city bike license obscures some of it.

Bloor Cycle - Toronto
My uncle bought the Voyageur new at Bloor Cycle in 1989. The bike hadn't been assembled long before he bought it. I inherited it 27 years later. Great bike. Lots of short tours coming up for it.

I've never seen a Cupertino Bike Shop sticker before. As I'm sure you know, in 1980 the shop had already been relocated to Pacific Grove, making those stickers redundant... Cool souvenir for sure, and even cooler that you got it from Spence himself.

Bikes: Wow, where to start? A collection of 1980's and early 90's road, touring, and MTBs from the likes of Trek, Schwinn, Cannondale, Fuji, Miyata, Univega, Panasonic, and GT. It has gotten rather out of control.
