Taking the commuter up this mountain in China...it almost killed me!
I decided to try and tackle this climb going up this little mountain here in China. From the base to the top is was 3.6 miles long, this after 6.3 miles to get to the mountain. Being a rank amateur and out of shape, I thought I was going to die. Ended up having to walk in a few places because (only having maybe 70 some miles of riding under my belt) but I eventually made it up to the top. unfortunately It was a misty-foggy day out so the pictures on top aren't the best.
This here is the start going up the mountain. Very nice and wide concrete bicycle path

Nice pics, that looks like a fun ride! Keep it up and that mountain will only seem like a small hill.

The air quality here in Quanzhou isn't very good at all. Too much factory pollution and people burning rubbish every where, and all the crazy fireworks being lit constantly. Next month is Chinese New Years and the fireworks are constantly being lit off. Right in the streets, at 1 am in the morning, it's totally unbelievable how these people get into their fireworks. Us americans no nothing about fireworks compared to the Chinese. After they light just firecrackers alone, the paper debris alone would cover the equivalent size of a normal size house. The ride down was very fast and scarey because the road(path) has some very nasty spots, and at speed, the handlebars almost wanted to shake out of my hands.

Don't death grip the bars when descending. Grip loosely and steer w/ your body. And holy damn! those are bike paths? I'd be riding up and down all the time just because those paths exist! And I hate hills!

Good stuff!
Keep it up on a regular basis & you'll be rocking.
I used to hit up my local hill on a regular basis on weekdays to keep in shape when living in 徳島市.

Love seeing pictures from different places. Great job. As others have said, the ride down must have been a blast.

Careful to not breath in too much polluted air during your ride. Not sure how you can avoid that. hahaha.... a nurse friend of mine told me that inner city cyclo-commuters often come in with lung problems due to sucking in polluted air. It is ironic, that cycling in your case can be hazardous to health.
