Switched to 23c's...

And it's a much slicker quicker ride! I probably gained about 3-4mph cruising speed compared to my 35cs that I had on it.

With my back rack, lights, and other accessories my bike probably weights about 22lbs or so, and it feels far from sluggish. I also hear a lot less creaking when I stand up off the seat to go up hills...

I think it was a good move.

yeah... my CX bike feels just like a road bike.

I had 23s on my old hybrid and the ride was back breaking harsh. Could have something to do with the bike being all aluminum. Might give them another try someday since I no longer have an aluminum fork.

I've commuted on 23s and 25s for years, but the roads are pretty good on my route. I would rather sacrifice a little comfort for speed and lighter weight.
