'Tis the season, it seems. So finally got around to hauling a 6' tree home (on my singlespeed beater, of course), wrapped tight in twine and slung over my back like an infantryman's rifle. And now letting it relax before any further work, but at least the tree topper is in place...

Started building up the Mondia , was able to get the cranks, deraileurs and a few other parts on. Still need some 27 inch tires for it but so far everything is fitting like it should. Going to buy some White cable housing tomorrow and get the brakes finished up. Looks like it will be ridden at the next Pasadena Vintage Ride.

This summer I sold a good friend a Koga-Miyata GentsTour bike that I built up using parts I had laying around for a cheap long distance tourer. The GentsTour is a Hardtlite FM-1 splined triple butted frame so it's surprisingly light and nice to ride.
He likes it so much that he wants to upgrade some parts so we spent most of last night working out upgrade parts. Looks like it might become a 1x11 bike soon.

Watching the rain, 4 out of 5 days, wishing I was doing the Malibu ride on my '61 Legnano. Missed out yesterday too. I don't know how you guys who get real weather deal with it. Here in SoCal we are admittedly spoiled, but I'd rather be riding.

I picked away at the above flakes and decided it really needs a refresh due to underlying rust. Roughed everything back to this point for now. Certainly needs a smoother transition, tough with PC. I grabbed a British racing green paint pen that I found while out and about, but too dark. Will have to grab a few paints to mix. This’ll be my first time with paint touch up, thankfully it’s on the mule...!!
Plus I wound up defiling my second 49d set. Unfortunately Shimano doesn’t offer MTB pedals with French threads. Odd choice!

I'm drawing a blank on "PC" regarding the paint surface transition... light spray coat of rust protecting primer, using raised masking to just cover beyond the bare steel, sand it smooth, then do the same (or if hand-mixed brush on) color coat (on color I use minimum 800grit wet paper, I prefer 1200 or 1500) then a "cutting" type auto polish to further smooth, and then finally a favorite gloss polish. Each sand polish step takes minutes, max. let paints dry enough, and wet sand slowly, or you'll have to paint again. To fill in the corrosion pitting on a small scale I stick with the color coat, in thin layers, but they make easy sanding, "high build" primers.
Clear coat if wanted, and can go to 2000 plus grit to match existing surface if necessary.

At 6’1 I’ve been riding 25 inch frame bike. Felt great. Then this past fall I picked up a 24 super sport. Couple rides and I noticed I was riding better. So I set both bikes in trainers and have been experimenting with fit and feel. I’m almost 50 and know that fit is important.
Bummer to leave the look of a tall frame but the smaller bike feels better.

I actually like the look of the smaller frame better. There is something about a size 56 or 57 frame that looks pleasing to the eye, Not too big not too small but just right,

Stripping Campy parts off for another early '90s build, I think this is a Basso "Astra"; decent frame (Columbus EL Oversize), but found a better fitting frame. Will put Basso frame set in the swap thread for now, non-Basso fork, I have a Basso fork that might be able to fit, but not OE. I need to remeasure, but think it is 56 cm c-c, I prefer something 54cm down to 50cm.
