Bike Washing

I use an electric pressure washer from harbor freight, the spray at a distance from the bike parts such that I can put my fingers in the spray without damaging the skin. I have lots of sand in my area, so lubing the chain and derailleur wheels after a day's ride is not excessive, especially when we get caught by rain. Sure, I can ignore it, but sand is very abrasive in the drivetrain. Water spray is less harmful.

I can count on one hand the number of times i've had to put a hose to my bike in the 6 seasons i've owned it. And those weer times I was caught in the rain and the it was full of mud and sand.
I usually wipe the frame with a 10:1 mix of water and Simple Green. For the chain i use Parks degreaser and straight Simple Green on the cassette and chainrings. For the cassette I spray Simple Green on and use a tooth brush to work it in. I then use a hose with very little pressure to wash it off and then my air compressor to blow the water out.
For deep cleaning I use an 2l ultrasonic machine with hot water and some Dawn dish soap for the chain, cassette.

Nothing wrong with putting fenders on a $4k bike. My "winter / foul weather' bike is in that price range and I tried to find fenders that that would fit to keep my dryer in the rain and snow.

I'm sure this is 1000% the wrong way to do it, but...I took my bike (racked to the car) through a quarter car wash after a particularly gross towpath ride where unexpected rain happened.
It worked surprisingly well!
(Of course, I lubricated the drivetrain immediately after.)

For some. For others, it's mudflaps on a Ferrari.

That Porsche looks ridiculous, and bad.
Anyhow, I honestly couldn't care less what someone in the Phillipines experiences. If you live in the desert where I live, dust coats everything and sticks to it. And road cyclists don't put fenders on their ride.
We use garden hoses. They are astonishingly effective technology.
We also don't go on and on and on about how the way we do things in our little part of the world is exactly how someone in a completely different part of the world ought to do things, but hey.

No, not that Porsche. That one looks great. The silly one in the first pic.
Had a friend who recently drove from San Juan Capistrano to Marin County in under 5 hours in an old 911. He described it as 'transcendant.'

The Rothman's 959 rally car is a racing legend, and what you're looking at sold in 2018 for 6 million dollars plus auction fees.
I prefer the 961 road racing variant myself, but I don't understand calling a Paris-Dakar winning race car "ridiculous". It looks like a purpose built race car.... because... it is

I just wipe my bike down with detailing spray, unless I get caught in the rain. It never messes with the drive train and that will get a through cleaning every 200-300 miles or sooner if needed.
also I think we were trolled.

I would love to bomb around city streets in that thing, at least for a little while.
I can only imagine the turbo lag that car must have had.

Yeah, well, see, you and I: we have different agendas when driving around our communities.
I used to do dealer swap drives in the 80's for a BMW/Mercedes dealership (Automotive Engineering, then of Lexington, MA) and actually went to a 1 day clinic at Skip Barber, which was awesome - I 'get' the pleasures of performance driving. Just not around town. I think it's selfish from a safety POV (even if you don't cause an accident, you likely frighten others).
Closed tracks (or Paris-Dakar) and I'm all over it. Trip to the grocery? I'll take the Escape.
As long as you don't run over wildlife and frighten pedestrians, though, I support your wish to drive a $6M car to CVS. Life is short. Make it fun when you can!

BTW, there's a local guy that drives his GT3RS around town and met him at the deli getting an eggs sandwich. He's put 5000 miles on it in a year. Cars are meant to be driven.
His is dark grey.

Yeah, I just feel like that's so attention hungry - just can't get there.
Do you motorheads have the opportunity to go places that are not trafficked to get your ya-ya's out? Here they had a disused regional airport where for a while they opened up the runway for weekend-night drifting and etc. It was to get that stuff off the streets, but also just for funzies.
Anything like that near you all?

Basic car wash soap, with a wash mitt and a hose no need for excessive pressure. I use purple power on my chain with a bristle brush and that degreaser on the cassette. Careful with degreaser around your bb shouldn’t have an issue on your hub bearings unless the seals are ****.
