It was the fact that it was still cold, with ice packs and I could almost see the fish shop from where I was, that I figured it was fairly low risk. Oh, and it was vacuum packed. It was fresh bluefin tuna, caught locally, Most of it gets exported to Japan and China but a little makes it's way on to the local market.

It is good of you to pick up that High Point - someone might have dropped it on his foot and hurt himself.

My biggest trail side find was a back pack with a $1000 laptop inside. I returned it and really didnt even get a thank you. The guy was a college professor.

In 1999 I rode across the country with 12 others. On the very last day of the trip, as we were headed to Bar Harbor, we passed a guy who was also finishing a cross country trip. Affixed to his bike and gear were dozens of plastic toys he had found along the road.

I mostly see single work gloves and beat up tools. This summer I did find a cell phone and wallet on back to back days on the same road. The phone was too damaged to charge and possibly find the owner. The wallet didn't have a DL, but their was a name on the credit cards. My wife tracked him down on FB. He was in the area for vacation. Wallet was successfully returned.

Damn I'm living in the wrong place. I once found $20 after spending an hour patching the first flat on my first disc brake bike. I once found a wrench. Mostly I find trash and dead animals, and things that have blown off of poorly secured pickups. There was that patio tabletop, made of steel mesh, much too heavy to carry. And the kitten; but for some reason a feral kitten didn't want to approach the busy highway to say hi to a strange giant. The other cat was smeared into the rumble strip.

i had a friend who would stop his car for dead animals, "i want the pelt, man.."

did not care if it was a skunk or whatever yeah he was weird. his name was Ralph. people named Ralph always seem to be dancing to a different drummer. had a stuffed rat with bird wings spliced on, looked pretty cool. he drove off a cliff while trying to drive cross country with no sleep. North Dakota. now his pelt is in the ground somewhere.

nowadays the Fish and Game will write you up for having stuff like that. One time they confiscated a bird feather from my friend's sun visor.

Even found a wallet on one Ride. First saw credit cards then the wallet. Guy had got gas and put his wallet on the roof of his truck.
Turn's out he was a good friend to my next door neighbor.

He came by to Get The Cards and said Keep the $44.

Over the years, some cash, various tools, a kitten, and a 5 weight and 2 weight fly rod in a case with reels and line. I still have the 2 weight. I really love it for small stream fishing. Makes even tiny fish feel like a whale.

I actually did have a Swiss Army knife like that. I lost it fishing one day at a nearby lake. I think It may have fallen out of my flotation vest pocket when I bent over to tend to my boat after taking it out of the water.

We have had much construction in our ride area.
Most of the items have somehow come from pick up trucks.

Do you still have the kitten/cat, or a picture?

Taken from my saddle on the Levee Trail / MUP. After careful consideration, I decided to leave this for someone else.
