Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, the MUPs here are nuts. I avoid them.

It's 8 miles with only 2 stop signs and no real cross streets, and not even any driveways for the first 6 miles. Flat to rolling, wide as hell with bike lanes you can ride two-up in. It runs through Water Department land, so there's a lake on one side and grassland/chaparral on the other. This pic is the view from the North end, taken just as I got back to the car after one of my last postwork rides before Daylight Savings Time ended.
Yes, you are describing a Hell. At least it’s outdoors, so the infection risk is low.

Wherever there are power boats, there are drunks and yahoos. Bad.

I ran on that MUP a few times when I was in Crystal City for conferences, it’s a mess

We vacationed in DC about 6 years ago. I brought my bike and rode most days. It was tough to say what was more dangerous, the DC roads or the MUPs.

It's being discussed among my small group of friends. We might do a fake mile meetup on Zwift, but latest forecast says rain gone by 8:30 so we may actually go out and ride.

Because real miles are better than fake miles.

Truth.

I hate how they will cross our bow dragging a tuber/skier/idiot while we are closing on them fast with spin up and double handed. Then the skier/tuber/idiot decides to drop the rope or falls off. Can't fix stupid.

That said, I just hedged my bet and reactivated my Zwift account so it's ready.
