Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Meanie!

No D-backs games for us this year, no AZ Fall League games, only two spring training games. I'm sure glad we didn't go to the one spring training game where everyone showed up and then were eventually told sorry, go home, game cancelled.

I disengaged the sunscreens on the east and west facing windows. Gonna leave the south side ones up for a bit.

We ended up staying here because are 90+ days are limited to a handful and sub-0 days are limited, also. Are precip numbers are also passable. Flooding and blizzards happen but are dealt with pretty quick.

I do admit, though, that eastern Kentucky and Velo Vol and datlas 's areas had a certain draw for us for the beauty and the riding.

BTW, Mrs. T had a fire (gas) going yesterday .
It would be nice to find a balance. The coastal areas of California are nice but cost prohibitive for a serf like me. Some of the mountain areas are still cheap enough but now we have fires running all over them. I think the heat here is worse than it used to be but I don't have data at hand. I just know it's going to be 108 today and it's already almost 90.

That's kind of vague. Depending on the circumstances, definitely go to the nearby mountains.
Maybe he can buy you lunch at Chipotle. Isn't the great velo vol an attraction?

Yep, full tights on Tuesday. Got away with just arm warmers yesterday but probably have to go with 3/4 tights this afternoon.

Cool.

My next ride is not until Saturday, but I am expecting to wear similar garb for a 45F start.

Cold. At 45ΊF, I'm wearing more than that, but my rides also end before 1500 hrs.

Definitely not my cup of tea, in fact the missus and I are considering moving further north for even more winter. I love winter, yet I can't even ski worth a damn.

I can see myself spending time around the eagles at Onondaga lake.

What!? I had 5 wks/yr the last 8 or so years of my career. Your job is way more stressful.

Plus at the time we had a very liberal sick leave and FMLA plan, which many people took advantage of. Not me, of course.

The fact that it's close to peak fall colors and near Great Smoky Mountain NP gives me a pretty good feeling that we'll like it there

And FYI, we're acutely aware that this isn't the best time to be going out of state, but we both decided that as lovely as it would be to explore local shops and restaurants, we're going to do everything possible to minimize contact with people. No shopping. No sit-down restaurants. No bars. Masks on everywhere. etc.
I currently live in Greenville and really like it here. Lots of good restaurants with a lot of outdoor seating. Friendly people and really nice downtown. There is a housing boom going on so be prepared for a little sticker shock.
