Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How Do You Store Your Bike?

Im looking for picture/ideas of how you guys store your bikes. Preferably in the garage, but anywhere is good so that others in a similar situation can find this thread useful too. My collection has grown to three and I need to find a way to store the third bike. I have the two others hanging on wall mounted brackets one on top of the other. The only real requirement is that it has to be close to the wall. With two cars, storeage shelves, workbench, and washer/dryer in there room is getting tight. I tried searching but wasn't very successful.

My wife learned to live with it. We have 2 bikes in the shed, one in the hallway, one in the living room, and 3 in the dining room (we abandoned the dining room table long ago)

Wow. Your wife must be some kind of saint or something. Is she also into cycling? My wife doesn't share my love for 2 wheels. When I was talking about storage solutions she already said "Don't think you're putting it in the house."

I have 3 bikes on standard floor racks in the garage. I also have a hanging mount where I can hang one from the high garage ceiling if needed. Then I have the "good' bike that does not see winter roads just sitting in my office in the basement. When it is in use it usually stays against the wall in my living room. Don't leave it in the garage because it is worth too much and my family has a problem with keeping the garage closed.

In our one bedroom apartment the girlfriend and I have 2 bikes on a rack in the living room, one bike leaning against a bookshelf on the other side of the living room, one bike in a corner in the bedroom (which sticks out so far we can only open the door about 60%) and a final bike on a trainer next to the bed. Except for blocking the bedroom door we really enjoy having all of the bikes around; if you get a nice looking rack you can use the bikes as a type of decoration.

We're talking about getting 2 LHT's, and I might get a mountain bike, so we may need to move into a bigger apartment soon.

I place fruit on it and set it in the living room. It is ornamental and keeps the fruit handy.

Our large apartment has two living rooms. The front living room is perfect as a bike room. We have 9-10 bikes in there, some on upright racks, some lined up on the floor. We also have a small walk-out basement that is the "bike shop" complete with workstands and all tools and spare parts. A bike is usually present there also. A small storage room off the bike shop is where mtn bikes and visiting bikes are stored. Right now one bike is on the trainer in the sun room. It's a cool apartment.

When we lived in much smaller apartments bikes were all over the place in the living room and bedroom or spare room.

A $45 stand from Lowe's holds our two singles against a wall of the garage. Our tandem stays on the ground...too much money in that to let it risk hanging.

Here is a terrible picture I took a month or so ago before I did some re-arranging. I will take another picture tonight. Basement, obviously.

Hook for 3 bikes in the back, 1 hook in the front, I have a bike under the stairs you can't see, one bike leaning against the wall I take the pictures on, one bike leaning under my hanging bikes, I keep 2 bikes on the first floor in the mudroom on a top and bottom bike stand.

Nice pics guys. If I had taller ceilings in the garage I'd hang them up on some hooks or use one of those lifts. I would love a basement, but Florida sucks. I just wound up clearing some space in the garage and picking up another wall hook. I wish I had a 3 car garage. Then I could set them up nice.

Family room. 4x4 between book cases (yes, the book cases are anchored to the wall), plus garage hooks.

I have a few other bikes here and there as well.
