Duane or Michael, would either of you mind saying who did that beautiful paint work/touch up, please? I may look into having the Tommasini repainted in the near future and I would like to be gathering up some names. Much appreciated guys.

Post #3 gives the gentleman's name in Chicago.

A DeRosa is one of those brands that I've always had a desire for.

welcome to chester cycles bicycle refinishing, restoration, and cosmetic repairs, too helping change the color of chicago?s bikes since 2004

Trying not to derail the thread, but Duane is distinct in his ability to repair where required while preserving the original paint as much as possible. He has done spot repairs on my De Rosa, Merckx and Simoncini and did a total repaint on my PX10. On all four bikes he managed to preserve and restore most of the original decals and the color match to the original paint is exact. It's impossible to tell where the new paint meets the remaining original color.

That looks very nice! Great job on the paint issues and parts selection. You all know my stand on handlebar position by now and I will not dwell on it further. ;-)

Looks great.

Michael, thank you very much, he sounds like just what I am looking for. I might contact them in a bit. much appreciated. It is going to take a skilled painter for the pearlescent pink colourway. And I definitely want to keep the same paint scheme on it. The website is some good gouge about the place.

Ha! I thought about your Colnago Master when I was setting up my bars. I try to get them as parallel to the deck as possible while still be able to reach the levers. I usually end up pointing them at the rear brake pads. Honest they don't look as bad in person!

This is probably the subject of a thread of its own-if it hasn't already been done...
Compared to Super Record ,Nuovo Record, etc. the C-Record era was only a few years. It wasn't considered "classic" for a long time. Add to that the fact that it was produced in the era of-and used by- LeMond, Fignon, Hinault, Roche, etc.

Hugh, that turned out really well. Particularly impressed with the paintwork on the top tube.
Well done, sir!

Effing EPIC. Beautiful. Sometimes a before/after just makes me smile. This is one of those.

I finally had a chance to get a couple of pics. For the most part, you really just can't tell unless you look really, really hard. Here are pics of the top tube most forward cable guide and the area just aft of it where there was a fairly large spot. Down tube just above the right shifter boss and (the only spot where I could really find the old defect) by the BB lug. See post #1 for the pre-repair pics.

Very cool - I just inherited the exact same bike (same model, color and year) from an uncle that passed away years ago. It's been in storage ever since. Not my size, so it's going on the marketplace...
