Finally got my first ride of the year in!
It is 65 degrees today but unfortunately the wind is gusting over 50 mph. I decided enough was enough and I was going to ride anyway. I thought I would try the rail to trail but there was a good 2 inches of soft sand on top of it, made it half a mile and back, that was not much fun lol. Then I went to where I started last year, a small 1 mile paved trail. I did 6 miles in about a half an hour, a major improvement of my first ride last year that was 1 mile in over 30 mins lol. I had my Jamis that does not have my preferred seat on it, will try again tomorrow with my All-City and hopefully will get an hour of saddle time in.
So glad to get back out on a bike! Too bad they are predicting freezing rain and snow tomorrow night and a return to winter this week, sigh.

I'm surprised that I've gotten almost 85 miles in so far this year. Hope spring keeps on springing, so I can keep getting more rides in. Been a long cold winter and all through February I was getting cabin fever, kept wanting to get on my bike but it was too cold.
Today's ride was windy as heck but I'm not complaining. Can't beat 62 degrees for a bike ride.

The snow is gone for now and I also made my first ride of the season. It was today 16 miles and it felt awesome because the last 3 years I have been fighting Lyme disease and it has kept my ride season short and not a lot of miles. Keep up the riding!

Still have two feet of snow in the front yard. Lots of melting to go yet. Then I can ride.
Going to be later than normal this year for that first ride.

It got to 65 again yesterday and once again 30+mph winds. I pushed really hard into the wind to get 10 miles in thinking I would get a nice easy ride with the wind back....Nope wind shifted so I fought the wind both ways. It was a nice workout though I am feeling it big time this morning.

Literally cannot remember the last time I was on a bike. I have Good Friday off and usually take a three-day tour that weekend. Cannot see it happening this year as it's still supposed to be cold through at least next week, with possibly more rain/snow. Don't see me getting in enough base miles to take even a short, unsupported tour before Easter weekend, which starts March 30th this year.

I wear a ski mask, goggles and big straw hat when it is winter. Not so cold here as midwest but the wind is awful and that is enough to make it through even the worst days for my daily ride.

I did my first ride today, too. It's sad how quickly we get out of shape! I was breathing hard on little climbs. The weather is supposed to cooperate this week, so I should be able to get out every day for at least a short ride.
