2019 Rides and well, Rides.....

Where do you plan to ride in 2019?
What do you plan to ride in 2019?
That's concisely it.

My schedule, I hope:
-April - Bourbon & Tobacco Tour (by speedevil) in western KY
-May-The 10th Storming of Thunder Ridge, Lynchburg VA
(chagrin at Mount Mitchell being the next day)
-July-Ride Across INdiana, Terre Haute to Richmond (aka RAIN)
-September - Coppi Centenario (show and ride) Hollandale WI
-October - The Hilly Hundred, Bloomington IN

Daytripping to a ride in KY, IN, or IL in June is possible and likely. As is steelbikeguy's ride for donuts.

Bikes:
A reduction of 3 is pending; 2 as complete bikes, 1 will be parted out and the frame moved on.
An acquisition (pending) may not arrive until 2019, but "no mas," as Fists of Stone once said.

e tu?

I did a wicked long off-road trail that took all day. it was an adventure. I'd like to do it again & try to find another just as long & just as rugged. I tend to be a local rider, meaning whatever is within a cpl hrs by car, but I don't mind riding all day

I'll do the same boring ride on the local river trail as always. My ride?? The same ride I've had for the past 34 years--an '84 Peugeot PH10.

Just registered for Eroica Limburg in late June. Hope to go to Gaiole as well in October. Anjou is part of the plans in June, as well as La Savoureuse in August and the Retroronde, also in June, that is if it's on next year.

Lots of local polder rides during the other weekends, I hope.

As for the bikes: no definite plans yet, but the Vittorio Strada deserves a nice trip to Italy or France.

I've done the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) ride. Hooks up with the C&O Towpath in Cumberland, MD. You can ride from DC to Pittsburgh on gravel.
It's 365 miles.
Some of it was washed out this past year due to heavy rains, best to look into conditions before attempting.

I plan to pick up my new 1980 Trek 414, in Youngstown, Ohio, in very early May. And then ride it across the state to Athens, where my stepdaughter lives, and nearby where I used to live.
Storming of Thunder Ridge on the 19th, followed immediately by riding from Harrisonburg Va to Charlottesville. Next day catch the train to DC and then ride to Arlington Cemetery, and return to CVille the same day.
Ride back to Harrisonburg a day or two later, pack up the bikes and return home shortly after Memorial Day.
And then the same old same old.
There will be an Ironman frame set awaiting me in Lynchburg.

Outside of Eroica California, I'd rather just get together with some buddies and ride more.

The whole ride with my 500 best friends doesn't work for me much. The only reason I'm doing Eroica is that a lot of my best friends will be there.

I'm a seasonal rider and had a great time last spring and early summer before my work picked up. I got caught up with some lower back issues that have had me resorting to yoga as an effective remedy, and am hiking a lot lately. If I do get back in the saddle next spring I'd love to actually do a solo tour of the Sacramento Valley over the course of five or six days, which I've been hoping to do for years!

For events...

- in May ill ride 120mi of the Katy trail with my 12yo daughter. 3 day 2 night trio and take the trail back to the start.
That'll be with my '90 touring bike make by fuji.

- April thru July will be training rides a couple times a week with a teen group to train for ragbrai.
that'll be with a late 80s Tange 1 road bike I've modernized, with the modern steel frame bike I built in a class, and with a '92 cdale t600 im building into a road bike.

- near the end of july will be a week of RAGBRAI consisting of 430ish miles.
that'll be with my modern steel frame bike I built.

- I plan to do a few local weekend overnight trips with my kids.
that'll be with the touring bike made by fuji.

- there will be a couple gravel races. One in late February and one in late october to in a sense start and end the season.
that'll be on my modern steel gravel bike with cantilever brakes.

I plan to turn an '87 ice pink Schwinn Prelude into a singlespeed this winter. The goal into use it more often as its redundant right now.

Port Angeles Metric Century - 4 May 2019

I am planning on hosting
this ride again.

It’s more along the the lines of Gugie’s idea of “just going riding with some friends.” First Saturday in May, every year. Which would be May 4 in 2019. Pace is pretty leisurely with the official policy of many photo-op and snacking stops strictly enforced . Rooms half price at my hotel for you out-of-towners.

An excellent excuse for you to come satisfy your curiosity about the extreme NW corner of the US, if you've never been out this way.

On this ride I’ll be on any of my bikes that can take a 28mm tire or bigger.

OF COURSE you’re all invited!

Eroica CA first week of April on my Circuit that will get a second coat of black paint this weekend (but the Medici which is temporarily sporting 7700 for my daughter's boyfriend to use, may get the nod again.)

Cinco de Mayo is The Belgian Waffle Ride in North San Diego County: resembles an Eroica route but on steroids -- 130 miles with 40 of that gravel and lots of climbing. I've always ridden my Sachs with 9 or 10 speed but if any C&Vers are game, it would be fun to crash the party with 6 speed friction.

Inspiring post, and question. It reminds me that I'm itchin' to break out of my limited routine (city commuting).

The plan is to have the Trek 520 built up by spring. It'll be outfitted for loaded touring. Geographically speaking, I imagine I'll begin by heading eastward 60 to 75 miles out of town into the McKenzie watershed through the Cascades for two to three night excursions. Once that terrain has whipped me into shape, I'd like to eventually pedal my way out west through the coast range mountains to the edge of the world by the time summer rolls around.

Highly encourage participating in iab 's -Coppi party in September.

And true to tradition, expect to rival the Bartalli Centenario. Which was 1st Class!

From the word of Fausto Coppi while heading the Carpano wine team in 1956.

Good manners are the first requisite of the rider. Show your education by the control of your tongue and by your bearing.

A rider doesn’t have to be a dandy, but he should be properly dressed.

A rider must honor all the engagements for which he has signed.

Courtesy is the sign of a rider conscious of his responsibilities.

Politeness is the foundation of all education.

The journalist is the representative of public opinion. The rider is responsible in contact with the press for his own standing, and he should help it do its job without ever seeking flattery.

Loyalty distinguishes a great rider, in competition and outside it.

A rider must control his nerves in all circumstances and must accept good and bad luck with equal serenity.

I'm aiming to do some gravel rides in the area, or at least some organized events. I haven't done any yet, but I've joined a small group this past year and discovered how fun good-natured competition is. So far I've only got my sights set on the Dirt Pecan in Monticello, Florida in March. If I get a mountain bike built I'll do the Monster Mash in Pine Log State Forest in October - missed this year's due to Hurricane Michael. I also intend on properly completing a century and doing a cyclocross event, but that was my goal for 2018, oops!

I plan to ride across most of Missouri on the Katy Trail. This will be my 8th time. I'll probably use my Windsor Tourist again; however, I've had the urge to buy a gravel bike.
Other than that, I'll do a lot of riding in the St. Louis area especially on the Madison Country Trails in Illinois and rides out of Columbia Illinois.
