Chrome Plated 2018 Ritchey Timberwolf Size M

Had the frame stripped, polished and plated before riding it and realizing it was way too small for me.

The image gallery can be seen here.

The only blemish is from chain suck, otherwise is it like new. The metal-work company did a great job on the polishing and chroming. It is a correct 3 step chrome plating.

Asking $650. Shipping from Switzerland to USA costs 76 Euros which at this time is $84.

Nice job on the mirror-like chrome plating job. I am curious as to how you keep the chrome from being deposited in areas that it would be unwelcome i.e. the insides of the headset cups, bottom bracket, seat tube, and cable stops. If it's a long and involved answer, please ignore sentence #2 of this comment, and just consider this a friendly bump to your thread.

I think a partial answer lies in the OP's country of origin. We are friends with three Swiss couples. If I can generalize, Swiss apprenticeship programs produce highly skilled. individualized and experienced crafts and tradespeople who do jobs right.
$650 wouldn't buy you a chrome plating half as nice as that in North America imo. We should really review how we prepare our youth for the world.

I don't know how they did it, but they did a good job. I had finished most of the polishing myself in what was my first and last attempt at polishing a steel frame. I got it to a modest shine before recognizing the need for a specialist and then sent it away to Germany for the final polish and chroming.

Oh, I didn't pay 650 for the final polish and chroming. It was nearly criminal what I ended up paying. But like I said earlier, I had done most of the arduous labor-intensive polishing myself and the company finished it up and chromed it.

And I agree, the education system here is one of the reasons why we opted to live here instead of there. I was amazed to find 15 year old apprentices at my first job here. At 15 years old they are already deciding what field to specialize in. Wish I did that.

Thanks for the response, the both of you. I thought I might maybe learn something about the chrome plating process, and I did a little bit. Skilled labor does the job right, is my take away. Cheers, and hopefully your frame sells quickly.

They said that they use tape or plugs to keep specific areas from getting plated.
