Lotus Aero Sport still desirable?
Hi, I'm new to this forum and not savvy to social media. I tried to attach a photo to my post but was unable to, bulletin said I needed ten posts, ? I'll try to work through that. My inquiry is, I have a Lotus Aero Sport in my barn and I'm curious to know if these bikes have value '? The bike is original save for saddle, brake hoods and bar tape. The bike must be about 40 years old. I don't ride it much anymore. The seems to be well made and rides well albeit a bit stiff. Maybe the aero shape tubing has something to do with that. I'm guessing it's a 58cm. I've never seen another bike like this and local bike shops don't know much about them. Any information on value would be appreciated, thanks

Look at ebay for sold prices, but I think these hold a good amount of value as a historical relic, especially if it is in original condition with all original components.
EDIT: Looking at sold listings on the 'bay, it looks like one of these sold in late January for $1,000.

Since the bike in question is the Sport model with slightly lesser parts and not the Pro model with DA Aero. I would think the likely sale price would be abut half that of Pro so $400-500 or so in barn find condition likely needing a full servicing and new consumables.

+10 and if you are selling in a local market (C/L or FB marketplace), even less. Its a really niche bike that most local buyers won't appreciate. Ebay helps you reach those special buyers, along with a lot of headaches......

I agree with your assessment that it is a niche bike. I will probably hang on to it. The craftsmanship of the Tsunoda factory is exceptional. It's a fun bike to ride . The unique brakes don't really work that well. Thanks for your input.

I had one for few weeks as rider that was fixer for a bike coop and I can say most of the Aero parts on this and pretty much all the mid level Aero parts from the 80's Shimano or Suntour have used worked on have been been just OK performance wise at best. For the most parts a lot of style but just basic somewhat outdated parts with a look for marketing,
