Coating on Campy Carbon bits
Anyone know what the coating is that is on the Carbon parts of the derailleurs? When shopping on line, there are fair number of them that have pealing around the adjustment screws, not to mention the scuffing on the knuckles!
Wondering if a new coating could be applied.

Most likely, a two part urethane that is impervious to solvents like acetone, once cured. It can be had in a spray can, but once the hardener is released and mixed, the whole can must be used in short time or tossed. Clear spray or brush lacquer is about your only other choice. Nail polish works for touch ups. Both can be removed with acetone or lacquer thinner.
FWIW, newer components now have no additional coating. The epoxy/carbon fiber material is fully exposed.

Yeah, clear nail polish works as well. You may need to carefully apply several coats (think coloring inside the lines) depending how deep the scratch is.
