Best Bang for your Buck Socks

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Best Bang for your Buck Socks

I have several socks of varying cost levels: Specialized, Sock Guy, PBK, and C9 (Target running socks). They all seem about the same even though they range from a couple bucks each to twenty bucks. So which socks out there give you the BBftB™?

Socks is one area where you do not want to skimp on. Get the best you can afford.

Pro Team Socks Bundle - Extra Long | Rapha

$70, but for that price you get 3 PAIRS of socks. Hard to beat.

For MY buck, the best bang I've had was with a 3-pack of "fun" dress socks from Target. They complement my hairy calfs nicely.

If it only says Rapha on the toes, how will other people know I'm wearing Rapha socks?

They sell PRO SOCK STICKERS for another $50, you can slap those on the back of the top cuff.

Can you wear cool socks like these without having sweet leg tats? Asking for a friend.

Costco sells a bundle of Adidas ankle socks that are synthetic and have worked as well if not better than my darn tough/smartwool's. I think it is something like $12 for the six pack. Stellar.

Someone has to say it in every thread, so here goes:

Fit is the most important factor!

If you don't make sure to research what size sock you are and make sure the sock fits, you won't be happy no matter how good a deal you got. You should probably get a professional sock fitting done, just to be sure...

Only if you can perform the water bottle flick like in your avatar. Otherwise, no leg tats means no cool socks for you.

Ridge Supply has 20% off sitewide today with code SOCKLOVE

In other news, Ridge Supply, Handlebar Moustache, and Sako7 are all just rebranded Defeets - sometimes you can find them on amazon for super cheap.

Such a good point. I had a friend who scored a great deal on some medium Assos socks. They looked amazing but his shoe size is 13 and you could tell while riding with him that he was struggling to adapt. People told him to go in for a fitting but he insisted because he got "such a great bang for (his) buck deal".

6 months on and that friend quit cycling and has turned to hard drugs to deal with the pain. Very sad.

Get socks that fit! It could save your life.
