See-through bike shorts :-0
Yesterday I was on a ride with my club. After our coffee stop, two of my fellow riders quietly approached me and said that when the sun was behind us, "We could clearly see your butt crack."
Obviously, I was mortified. I was also glad they told me, as I would have not known otherwise. Now, my bibs are very high quality--Louis Garneau--although they are a few years old, so I figured it's time to go shopping for new bibs. But then I also got to thinking that, given the nature of Lycra and the sheerness of the material, wouldn't even brand new shorts or bibs be translucent given the right lighting conditions i.e. the sun directly behind you?

Last year I was on a ride and a guy was in front of me with his bibs so stretched and worn you could have seen his bare butt in the dark. I didn't say anything but I should have. And no, brand new shorts shouldn't show your cheeks in any lighting condition.

I occasionally catch the wheel of the local female bike racers in town out training.
I have it on high authority that the term 'high on crack' originated in cycling and not part of the drug culture.

It happens. White panels are the worst. I was on a team that had white shorts one year. It was an issue.
Time to relegate those bibs to indoor trainer or under tights duty.

On a ride last year with a female training partner, I asked, "Do you wear something under your shorts?" She responded, "Yes, why do you ask?" I answered, "White with purple polka dots?"
After that, she either changed brands of shorts or stopped wearing visible underthings under her shorts. I'm not sure which. Some Spandex in certain lighting leaves nothing to the imagination.

There are so many people riding with old shorts ones that are too small that this is something I see all the time around here. Sometimes it is pretty outrageous.

Wash shorts/bibs on the delicate cycle and use mesh wash bags. Never dry them in a dryer. All that lint in the lint trap used to be part of your clothes.

My wife told me a story about a few years ago when she rode with some ladies from the club. The one lady stood up on a climb. The woman didn't know she had a large tear...there. Check those shorts, often folks !!!

First day of Cycle Oregon 2002. Woman who I don't know pulls up along side me and says "You must have had those shorts for a long time." She was right, but how could she possibly know that? Took me about a minute to figure out how. At the end of the day's ride I inspected the shorts after I had showered and changed. Into the trash they went.
Ever since then I usually let people know if it's time to retire a pair of shorts. Happened again last year. The guy was really appreciative.
