Is this a Colnago Super imitation?
Hi,
My father just gave me this bike. He paid €130 for it and reckons it's an imitation. I'm not an expert on bikes but it's very nice to cycle. I also searched for pics of it on-line so I could learn about it but I couldn't find any.
Perhaps it's an imitation, it's still nice to have. Can anyone tell me about it?

I think your father is right - but it's a good looking bike, rides well and didn't cost too much - what more could you want for 130 Euros?

Would the stay caps be different on lowerend models in Europe?
You need dropout screws.

I have not seen a Colnago frame that didn't have some identifying fearure, like the clover, somewhere, BB, fork crown, lugs, DO's, chain stays or seat stay caps with Colnago empossed. Maybe really early ones when the paint was one color, but not with this paint schema.

Hi it looks like a very nice bike. I agree with the other listers it doesn't look like any Super Ive ever seen. But that means nothing. Colnago sold so many different models over the years that anything is possible. Most of the Colnago people on this forum know everything to know about Colnagos sold in the US and little or nothing about European models. So you get this "I've never seen one like that before it must be a fake ". Take a look at Flickr 9EhGiOeS' to see some European models. Ed

Lower end Colnago... Why not... Back in the 70s in Vicenza Italy my first Liotto was a lower end model with a ChrMo frame - Later I switched components to a columbus frame and eventually got it to Tuto Campagnolo... Was the ChrMo bike a Liotto - Absolutely...
Some of the GIs I was stationed with would hop a train to Milano and come back with a brand new Colnago only spending two pay checks...
This very well could be the source of the one shown...

I lived 20 yrs. in Europe and it may well be a lower end model. The lugs appear well filed and the seat lug is investment cast which leads me to believe it may be a Colnago, just not a 'Super', however the seat angle looks to be too slack for any Colnago road or criterium cycle I've ever seen. Keep it and have it overhauled and refinished. The top tube cable routing was first used during the 1980's.

Not even on the lower-end Colnagos (Sport, International) was this type of stay end treatment used:
The genuine article would have stay ends similar to one or the other below.
Late 70s:
Early 80s:
Even so, the frame looks very nicely built with some spiffy details; 130 Euros ain't a bad deal at all
