Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You don't have to wrap your bars outside.

Eddy current and bike rollers. Also, a free motion idea.

I wear them for lifting. I don’t think they make plain running shoes any more and I don’t trail run

Did he not get back to you with the crank arm length?

nope. And he didn’t seem to know anything about them, nor could he verify if they worked since he bought them used and never used them. He was taking them to a shop on Friday to get information about them and I never heard back.

That seems like a long time to be driving.

These aren't NASCARs. I thought Dayton is oval?

Yes, a bit younger than I am, but these two seemed to have more left later on the small climbs after the brutal earlier stuff. This group is very good about staying together most of the way but did split in two late, with about half of us relegated to the second group on the road.

Here is a pic from above the sign on a spectacular day.

Jeezuz. I mean, the length should be marked on the crankarms, themselves, usually on the back side at the pedal bore.

Well when something seems to good to be true it usually is. He didn’t really seem all that interested in selling them.

So now considering this.

Rollers are all well and good, but considering that you live in a place where roads are viable the vast majority of the time, my priorities would be outside first - waiting a week or two for weather to blow over isn't going to meaningfully set back your fitness and a PM is going to be far, far more valuable in progressing towards your goals.

The only motivation to do it is for riding activities and we've got a winter storm looming.

Next time I retape the bar, though, I gotta replace the housings.

Did my fake group ride. It’s advertised as a “Recovery” ride but alleged goal pace is 2-2.5W/Kg means recovery if your FTP is north of 4W/Kg. My wimpy ftp is something around 2.8 to 3, so although I was able to ride with the group it was certainly not recovery pace.

We went over by the Hollywood sign and everything in that area is steep and we did the climb that goes above the sign which is super steep and rough but closed to cars. Hundreds of walkers in the area looking to take pics and selfies around the sign.
We also went through Griffith Park and there were masses of people and cars everywhere. Cars jammed everywhere one could fit, even no parking zones.
I think I only had about 75 miles but I was out for almost 8 hours, the longest I've been on a ride in a long time. Came home trashed.

Here are two of the guys who are about my speed. Nice guys.

indoor bike crap is stupid high right now. But it depends on what they are too. I believe the smaller the diameter roller the higher the resistance, you may want to research that though to be sure. Some come with mag. Or fluid resistance units. Some fold up.

Makes sense. I just get really bummed about not being able to ride at work and then coming home and the weather not cooperating. I make it a lot bigger in my head than the actual issue really is. I’m working on that.

Btw, May 7 through the 9 is the cap2cap fundraising ride. You can register for different amount of miles and what not. I know you prolly won’t be out her at that time but if you are it would be worth to check out.
I’m hoping by May Lily will be willing to do atleast the 50 mile ride. I think she will be good for it.
