Carbon haters or realists? I wouldn’t ride a damaged aluminum rim either, this is not an either or question. That said, I ask carbon lovers if anybody will be riding your current carbon bike in 30 or 40 years? Likely not but my current 30 and 40 year old steel bikes will likely still be around and safe to ride. Carbon fiber is a technology that does not favor repair but instead is to be thrown away if damaged.
