Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? they're hot for sure, but i don't really know anything about them. there was one on ebay a fairly long time ago, but i can't remember how much it went for. i'd say they're pretty hard to come by.

i'm pretty sure the one that showed up on ebay was the same from that photo. check one of the old ebay threads, the seller posted here after we started talking about it.

this is the first time i've posted since the week i got my dad's old schwinn road bike and had all kinds of noob questions to ask back in september. well ever since i came here, and read most of sheldon brown's site, and became e-friends with teh {z}, i've been obsessing over the idea of getting a fixed gear bike, whether it be new or converted or whatever. today i finally broke down and blew 450 bucks on the 2006 fuji track, and let's just say i'm... excited. i'm holding back the urge i normally have to flip out about it. i just road it around the block for a half hour (i am entirely new to the fixed-gear ride, and it's a bit horrifying. but so far, so good, and i love it), and can't wait to get some real use out of it.

i'm just coming here to blab because i'm so stoked.

here are my disgusting, -30 awesome webcam pics, though you've all seen this bike before.

yay <3

Trying to recall the merits of orange and pink mixed.
Oh well, it'll come back to me. To each his own.

Every time I see pink deep-v rims I think of this...

[EDIT: Picture removed by request of pink-cheeked girl's indignant friend.]

...and then I try and figure out if she really matched her blush to her bike (and her bra) and whether I think that is incredibly sad or incredibly impressive.

i posted this before i had the proper wheels on it (********* has the da ones that were on it). i think it looks a lot better, and a lot more ridiculous now. the wheels are 36h NJS promax laced 3x to deep v's. i won't rehash the whole parts list, but the frame is a 58.5x58 makino njs frame with obnoxious glitter paint. it wasn't super bright outside when i took this picture, so it looks less like a mcdonald's disco party than it is.
