Preference: Fat or Skinny Tires?

just curious what you guys prefer and why.

i've been riding 700x23's for awhile now but think my next pair will be something wider when these wear out.

the right tool for the right job. For real smooth pavement, 23, for gravel paths 32 or bigger. I mostly run 25s and 28s though a nice compromise since the pavement isn't always smooth.

I rode this fixed on 25s, and it was doable

23s for everything unless it's dedicated off-road/cobbles/stone/gravel/snow then 32s

28 for my race bike. 32-35 for my touring bikes. I just feel more secure with a little more width and tires that get decent traction. Some roads I find myself on are pretty rough. 23's , just not very much tire.

road bike - 23

for fun fixed - 23

commuter cross bike wheels - 23

road wheels for cross bike - 23

single track riding wheels for cross bike - 35

BUT i am going to be putting 28s on my other fixed soon

why
?

i am making a minor project out of commuterizing this bike and nothing says commuter more than 28s

700x23 front, 700x25 rear. The 25 in the back is usually because I don't read the label close enough, but I've become pretty fond of the combo.

25 front, 28 rear. My fat ass causes snakebite punctures on skinnier rear tires.

seems like a good enough idea to me, a little more surface area for skid durability and air capacity for the added stress the rear wheel goes through.

I run the opposite (25 in front 23 in back). 25 in front for better control.
