Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Good advice about using hose clamps. I will have to give that a try next time I cut some bars.

I took 'em to my LBS. They're really professional.

I told 'em I needed my pipe cut and they put Lorena Bobbit on the phone.

GREAT advice about using the butt from your first cut to measure the second...I'm feeling stupid now with my uneven bars. Of course I didn't even measure, so already felt dumb.

If you're cutting some drop bars, try a sawzall under running water. If that doesn't work, the next best way is to don't.

$589 https://www.samstores.com/details.asp?ProdID=7917 I've got the shop/barn wired up with 220 for the arc welder, but this thing is just overkill. I would rather get a cheap oxy/acl rig for that much money!

I cut the risers on my mountain bike today with a $9.00 pipe cutter. A monkey could use this method with great success.
