Omgwtfbbqbacon?!!1!!!11!

what the hell is wrong with people?

so im at my computer this morning, looking at emails, lolcats etc... and i hear this HORRIBLE noise coming from outside.. it is a trash truck compacting things..

i look to see what they are crushing and happen to notice a pile of about 5 or 6 bikes resting against the bench in front of the police station.. im all like ok those bikes probably belong to people that brought by their trash to throw out.. wrong..

the trash guys proceed to pick up the bikes one by one and throw them into the back of the trash truck and crush them! WHY?!

i try to yell out my window for them to stop, but the truck is too ****ing loud so noone hears me.. i am naked (cuz its hot as **** here) so dont have time to put on clothes and run downstairs in time to save the bikes.. so i watch in horror as they crush every last one of them.. it was so sad..

they were perfectly usable frames.. sure, most of the parts were rusted to hell, but they could have been fixed.. i totally would have bought them off of the police station and fixed them up and sold them to people here on the island.. cuz everyone and their mom asks to buy my bike like everyday, and i have to keep turning them down, cuz, you know, its my only bike here..

idiots! why did they have to kill those bikes! stupid police.. i swear they just had too many of them laying around and didnt know what to do with them, so they destroyed them..

mother****ers see me on my bike everyday and i talk to them about bikes all the time.. they should have let me know they had bikes they didnt want.. whatever.. it still makes me sad tho..

oh and other things they crushed:
a boat
a motorcycle
many bike wheels
5 fans
a bed
2 dressers

jesus christ man.. most of those things could have been fixed.. you would think on an island where its hard to get stuff, people would be more resourceful and actually take the time to repair things rather than make ***** tons of trash.. whatever..

ok im done..

Well I am in no way trying to say that what they did was right, but you have to look at the other side of the coin. To a police station flooded with things to do all day, figuring out a home for some rusty bikes is probably at the bottom of their list. Trashing them was probably the quickest and cheapest way to take care of it.

Too bad you couldnt save them. I would try going to the station and give them your number, so next time they get some bikes they can just call you to come take them.

https://store.baconsalt.com/

I have the original bacon salt and its out of control.

first of all.. mmmmmmmmm vegan bacon..

second.. the police station is literally directly across the street.. the station is on the first floor and they live on the second floor.. and i live on the second floor of my apartment.. they have this creepy tendency to watch me thru their parted blinds while i do stuff in my house.. maybe i should wear clothes more often hehe.. also they have never before had a problem yelling from the street up to my window to get my attention before.. i just wish they had done it this time.. and i would give them my number to call me.. but then they would think its a sexy phone call and that i want to do them.. which i do not..

third.. they were NOT bikes that were left over from an auction.. they dont have auctions here.. they dont even regularly have electricity here hehe.. i was actually surprised to see a trash truck.. let alone one that could crush bikes and boats.. and the police are NOT busy here.. most of the day they are sitting on the bench out front of the station bumping really loud (****ty) music from their cars, playing their stupid downloaded ringtones really loud, or hissing at every single girl that walks by..

lastly.. naked sleeping pictures.. cannot post here.. but i do have many.. im just not sleeping in them.. well i may be almost passed out drunk in a few.. but thats not sleeping

Yeah, you would think that countries with less money would be more resourceful, but it really doesn't surprise me. Cleveland doesn't have an official recycling network. Miami and LA do, but they both have more money. It sucks.

Talking about wastefulness and giant crushing machines, imagine this:

After a ship almost sank and spent 2 weeks at a 60 degree angle with a couple of mazda cars on board:

"For more than a year, the 4,703 Cougar Ace Mazdas sit in a huge parking lot in Portland, Oregon. Then, in February 2008, the cars are loaded one by one onto an 8-foot-wide conveyor belt. It lifts them 40 feet and drops them inside a Texas Shredder, a 50-foot-tall, hulking blue-and-yellow machine that sits on a 2.5-acre concrete pad. Inside the machine, 26 hammers — weighing 1,000 pounds each — smash each car into fist-sized pieces in two seconds. The chunks are then spit out the back side. "

That reminds me to tell you all:

Do NOT buy an E92 BMW M3 V8 coupe (2008). The ship that brought them over lilted, and almost all of them were damaged. BMW paid to have them fixed (!) and the dealer markup on the car brings it to 30k over sticker (60k). It's a marketing tool for the '09 (which will be great).

/OT

But yeah, ships can tear stuff up. I wonder how many bikes are killed by shipping, and where do they go to die?

i live in dominica

i am sorta exaggerating about the electricity, but it does turn off for hours at a time at least a few times a week..

as long as i keep my fridge closed during power outs my food stays good, and if i dont keep it closed then usually my juice and soymilk go bad.. but then i use the juice to make sourdough bread

its not hard to be vegan here at all.. there is a farmers market thing down the street like everyday so there are lots of fresh veggies/fruit.. they dont have tofu here but they do have tvp (they call it soya chunks) and lots of nuts and every bean you can think of.. and they have soymilk but its expensive and the best fresh juices ive ever had..

i think the hardest part is that no one will tell me what is in the bread.. it is all hand made at little bakeries with no ingredient list or anything.. so i have to make all my own.. but im really good at it now
example of my conversation at the bread shops:
Me: "Are there milk or eggs in your bread?"
Bakery: "Do you want milk and eggs in the bread?"
Me: "No"
Bakery: "There are no milk or eggs in the bread"

the thing that is even harder about living here is the no bike shop thing.. it sucks balls.. there is one little shop here that has some mtb and bmx tires and a bunch of random parts but somehow none of them fit my bike.. so if something breaks or i need new tires/tubes, stripped bolt etc.. i have to send away to get it from back home so i am usually without a bike for 2-4weeks.. but thankfully that has only happened about 3 times hehe
