Bikepath / Railtrail Photos
With so many subforums here, I am unsure which one is best to share the website with everyone.
My Bikepath Adventures
There were various cameras/phones used over the years, so bare with me on the picture quality..
If all goes well, I plan to add many more rides this season
If anyone else maintains a bikepath/railtrail site, please post a link.

I'm planning on doing the PineCreek trail this spring. I live in MD, but have yet to ride the Washington and Old Dominion. That's on this coming summers bucket list. I've been doing alot of C n O canal rides along with Great Alleghany, (First 6 current pictures are from me), PA Heritage rail trail/ John C Tourney in the MD side. Many smaller trails throughout the area.

Heritage Rail Trail County Park | Pennsylvania Trails | TrailLink.com
Planning on also riding the Virginia Creeper, D&L Lehigh trail, and redoing the GAP but am going to start from Pittsburgh and ride down to Cumberland MD.
This is going to be a fun summer!

I'm not too far from there, just north of the PA/NY border, and checked out the Pine Creek trail for the first time this past fall. Really pretty ride, and especially quiet when you get a few miles from trail access points. Even got passed by a bald eagle flying through the gorge above the creek.

This is me on the Southwind Rail Trail just south of Iola, KS. The trail runs about 7 miles between Iola and another town. On the north edge of Iola it turns into the Prarie Spirit Trail which is maintained and managed by the Dept. of Wildlife & Parks and runs up half the state to Ottawa, KS.
Yes, that's my old junky mountain bike.

Here are some images of a rail-trail I ride sometimes. The trail runs from Hamilton, Ontario to Cambridge, Ontario and is about 78 kilometers long.
This is the old Grist Mill ruins. I liked the flowers.

If you look closely you might be able to see some of the ruins of the old generating station that boosted the electricity for the Lake Erie and Northern Electric Rialway that ran from Port Dover on Lake Erie up to Preston, Ontario which is now part of Cambridge, Ontario.

A spring that flows under the trail.

This is a favourite spot of mine and is about 12 kms from cambridge. This view shows the rail-trail that was the LE&N in the foreground and the Northern railway on top of that ridge in the background.

Turn around and facethe river and this is the view.

Here's a closer look.

Here's an even closer look at the end of the island.

The rail-trail is crushed limestone. It narrows in some areas.

Astoria River front has a Rail still in use for the Tourist Trolley where the MUP goes off shore onto Trestles they Planked in around the rails ,
so Comming on and off the trestle end requires attention .. But it's Bike-able and walkable .
well out of town the Banks Vernonia SP is a more developed conversion of old rail Bed. Banks-Vernonia State Trail - Oregon State Parks and Recreation

The winner tho, was the Hudson Valley Trail in N.Y. That trail connects to the
Walkway Over The Hudson, and the Duchess Rail Trail.
I was fortunate to ride them last September, and HIGHLY recommend it.
The "Walkway Over The Hudson" should be on everyone's bucket list!

Nice site and cool pics. I am always looking for destinations with easy bike rides for my wife, so this was very useful. I only wish it wasn't so late in the season, as the Burlington Bikeway (Island Line Rail Trail) looks like a must do!
PS: I have a site that covers bike paths on Long Island and in the surrounding region: https://nyrides.freehosting.net
