50`s Louison Bobet

Hello,

I am offered this Louison Bobet bike. It is all original and according to the seller is from the 50`s.
Can anyone give me more information on the brand and the bike? I have never heard of Louison Bobet bikes before.
What would be a correct price?

Thank you.

Ps: no, I have no picture of the other side from the bike...

Louison Bobet was a French champion, the first to win the Tour de France in three consecutive years--1953, 1954, and 1955.

In the early '70s Louison Bobet bikes were imported by the mail order house Cyclo-Pedia. Their offerings roughly mirrored Peugeot of this period. The half-step gearing on this bike certainly looks appropriate for the '50s.

Bobet actually rode Stellas until late in his career. The floor on this bike is about 1955 or so. They were made well into the sixties, perhaps into the seventies. They ranged in quality, and even some 531 framed bikes came with cottered cranks. I would like to see some drive side pictures, pictures of components, and have a measurement of the seat post diameter before hazarding any guess. I've found sellers to be a very poor source as to the vintage of bikes.

Bobet was a French rider. He was quite dominant for a period in the fifties and won three consecutive Tour de France races. The first two were won on Stellas, the last on a Bobet IIRC.

We need better pics to I'd value this bike. Based on the minimal pic it is a early 60's model similar to the Peugets and Gitanes of that era which often had 531 frames and cottered cranks. Here's a pic of a similar 63/64 Gitane. I had recently.
