Nice Cooper! Haven't seen that one in the C & V. Is it recent?

btw, what is the thing clamped over the second O in cooper on the downtube? Looks sorta like a tire cleaner but it isn't touching the tire.
Do you flip it down to 'lock' the front wheel when you park the bike?

I've had the bike for quite a few years now... this was the old setup.



The little device is a flick stand... it keeps the wheel from turning when you lean it up against things like walls and works very well.

Here's my much loved and much mentioned Europa. I bought her new in the eighties and have used her on and off ever since. Most of those years she served with her original wheels and gears and stuff but with the purchase of a (since sold in disgust) new bike about eight years ago, she was converted to fixed gear. Once it became obvious that she was still the only bike I rode, I commissioned the Hillbrick. This left the Europa at a loose end again so she was converted back to gears, initially with Ultegra 9 speed bits. Those bits started to piss me off immensely, especially the shifting, so eventually I changed to Retroshifters (you can just make them out on the brake levers), easily the best geared move I've ever made and I now have guaranteed shifting everytime with levers as close to being under my fingers as suits my albeit modest needs. The wheelset is a bit naff being a recent, budget purchase, but it's working. She's photographed at work - she continues to serve as my commuter when I'm too out of shape to climb back up 'that sodding hill' on the Hillbrick (fixed gear) ... and she's still as loved as she's ever been.

What size is that frame? Judging by the headtube that looks to be around a 58.

I've always liked the colour too.

The frame is undersquare - seat tube is 63cm centre to centre, top tube is 58cm centre to centre.
Funny, it doesn't look it, I was expecting it to be a square frame when I went to measure her. That was the fashion in those days. Bikes got bigger overall as you went up but once you hit about the 23" mark, they'd increase the seat tube but not the top tube. Dunno whether she fits me or I'm just stupidly used to her - she's even got the original quill and bars.

Thanks for the love. It's more of a baby blue than the turquoise my iphone made it out to be.
I managed to get it down to under 15lbs with the roval clx 40's and the s-works tires.
