My multi-terrain hybrid bike
Chromoly steel frame + 32mm cyclocross tires + suspension seatpost + bar ends + waterproof gps/phone holder + waterproof front/back lights = A rugged yet very comfortable multi-terrain hybrid bike.
My 20 mile commute (year round) takes me over both unpaved trails and paved surface. After experimenting with different types of tires, 32 mm cyclocross tires seemed to work best for both types of surfaces - they are neither too wide nor too narrow and have an awesome grip. Chromoly frame coupled with a good quality swivel free suspension seatpost delivers a smooth ride over toughest of terrain. Only thing missing is perhaps disk brakes.
I have ridden this bike in worst of weather conditions without any issues - Love it so far!

Even though you have settled on 32mm wide tyres, what is the largest tyres you would be able to safely fit and run on your bike?

I've tried 35 mm tires with a different type of knobby tread - On paved surface they felt noticeably heavier and they made a swoosh type noise when riding on higher speeds.

Nice. The important thing is, you made it your own. I wonder though, if you flipped the stem, you could probably get rid of the spacers.

Im not sure if the bike would be come an All-terrain if it still have those 32mm tires.. tire that small would just be a commuter tire..
Put a knobby and size 40 tire so you could enjoy it off the road. Me after DK flint hills, 'am now hitting my Roam 3 on a single track MTB trail. Jumping thru tree roots and 3 feet wide creek with a size 40 Schwable smart sam tires on it. Felt like i have a small 29er..

I agree but 40 mm tires are too heavy for on-road biking. 32 mm knobby cyclocross tires are versatile enough to do both on and off road biking with ease.
