Wife made out like a bandit. At least we think so.

We found this in a local bike shop yesterday. It fits my wife like it was made for her. She told me she knew she was going to buy it before she had ridden it 100 yards. We only paid $550 which was the asking price. I didn't even haggle. We even got a rear rack and matching purple panniers and rear bag, plus the suitcase that the bike packs into. The mechanic and myself didn't think the bike had 100 miles on it. Excuse the background. We are in a remodel.

$550 for all that?

Yep, if it fits your wife, that deal was a no-brainer.

She says it feels better than any bike she has ever been on. Fit looked spot on to me. I'm no expert but the bike mechanic does fittings too and he said it fit her as well as he could tell without doing a full fitting. My wife loves the color and says it is nearly exactly the same color as her first real commuter bike that was stolen years ago. She was even a little emotional saying ,it was as if her old bike had returned but 1000X better than it was.

if it's in a big metro market, then it's a good price.

Crazy thing is, I just have got her interested in touring with me. I just have purchased a Surly LHT and am still fitting it out with racks and bags. She was prepared to do some short tours with me on her Trek 7200 Multipurpose comfort bike. She thought the Trek was awesome until I spotted this and convinced her to drive the 2 hours to the shop to see and ride it. I think I said something like,"For God's sake, get over there and try that bike before somebody else buys it!"

There's usually one in every crowd. An S&S coupler retrofit will cost you more than she paid for the entire package. A new S&S hard case is going to set you back hundreds. That's a helluva deal in any market. She should ride it like she stole it, because she pretty much did.

Yeah she STOLE that Co-Motion for $550. As mentioned, the S&S couplers alone are a $900 option if building a new bike.

Sage advice, especially for someone who seems to be short size-wise. My ex-GF of many years is 5' even. The 42cm LHT was the smallest stock touring bike I could find for her. If I had seen that Co-Mo for sale I would have driven two hours to get it and run you off the road in the process if you got in my way. As I note above, an S&S coupler retrofit cost more than the entire package she got. A new hard case goes for not a whole lot less than what she paid. And let's not forget the bike itself. I have done Cycle Oregon 4 times, so I have seen a decent number of Co-Mos (mostly tandems) in my time. None of them were ugly. Only one was o.k. The rest were Wow!

Good find! When I was building a Trek 520 for my then-girlfriend and offered a repaint she chose that purple. Our shop was doing work with Marinoni at the time so she also got a pink MTB.

Niiiiice. I love the bit of XTR bling. I wonder what the story was behind the fire sale? Fwiw would fit my wife perfectly as well.

Even without the travel case and SS couplers, $550 would have been a fair price. Maybe not a STEAL, but a fair price, especially when you consider what the bike market is like right now.. That is a very smartly spec'ed bike, and Co-Motion frames are not cheap.

Throwing in either the SS couplers OR the travel case would have made this a very good deal in any market. Throwing in both is a crazy good deal. A true steal.

Yes,the cycling gods have been very good to us the last few months. She has a nice Trek Comfort bike she bought for $135 besides this. I have a nearly new Surly LHT, a near perfect 1983 Miyata 610,and an awesome steel frame double butted Trek 400, all bought in the last 6 months and I have less than $825 in all of them with new tires ,chains ,brake pads, bar tape, lights and mirrors, and bearings.

You are absolutely correct-- that is a steal. The couplers alone are $900 today.

That price was $3500 less than the cost of my wife's custom built Co-Motion. The OP saved at least $2,500 over a new one

The custom built frame was $3000 in 2010, and it was well worth it! She has 25,000 miles on it, in 11 different countries.

What size is it, I can work on a 54, 55 or 56 so if it is that size it is absolute crap and you should just give it to me and I will prevent you from your poor purchase (I won't tell anyone what you did, very discreet). However if it is smaller or larger it is an excellent bike you got a beyond killer deal on that. I love my Co-Motion Cascadia and would happily buy another and especially that color with XTR and couplers would be cool.

Welcome to the Co-Motion Club! You found the secret we have been all blabbing about for years! Good quality MUSA frames that look great and ride like a dream and aren't ridiculously expensive. Call them up and order one if you don't already have one and don't have the luxury of being Deal-o-rama Man and can sniff out the all these amazing deals.

The Onyx hubs are worth the $550 alone. So you did extremely well.
