I think you’re going to like it @WhyFi.
edit: grrr - looks like it might not matter for me, a Wahoo user. I think that the Light Off/Radar On mode is only supported when being controlled by the head unit, and Wahoo doesn't do that at this point. Hmmm... I don't know that I want to do group rides with this thing flashing all of the other riders.

I remember reading that it actually does (perhaps in the comments of DCR review), but don’t have firsthand experience with it...

I will require far more imploring, begging and groveling to consider such a request. I am the friggin Pope of BF. Show some respect.

Hey! An owner! I was just looking online, but was having trouble finding an answer to this - when you have it in the Light Off/Radar On mode (last button press before it goes back to solid), does it still flash at approaching cars, or is the light just off off?

The offensive line looked like they were training with the Bronco's in the first half. I was doing odd jobs, but had it on in the background. I did end up watching, and I'm glad I didn't shut it off when things looked dire.

So I have to wonder what Big Bicycle will dream up next to pry more dollars from our pockets. Their recent innovations have included relatively easily damaged bodies (let’s not argue about this), automatic transmissions, off road enhancements, improved headlights and taillights, enhanced dashboard diagnostics, “leak-proof” tires, disc brakes, and now engines . . . . . none of which is essential to riding a bike. What’s next, air conditioning?
Sure its it’s going to be easy to call me an old fuddy-duddy, curmudgeon, or that other term I can’t think of right now. But they keep finding reasons to come up with unnecessary stuff, don’t they?

Bah. I was hoping to get in a quick ride before the rain moves in, but it's not going to happen. Maybe I'll be able to get out this afternoon to put the Varia through its paces.

on my way back from my ride this morning, I stopped at a busy road and cycled through (no pun intended) the light modes, changing them through the head unit.
First thing’s first; “radar ON - light OFF” is exactly that. No light, no flashing when cars are detected. .
For the rest of the settings, “solid”, “flashing”, the light mode changes to an S.O.S. type of flashing pattern in both light modes. “Flashing” light mode is different enough from the “car alert” mode, that the drivers would distinguish the change in mode (if they don’t have their heads buried in their phones to begin with).
i know it doesn’t help you much, but at least if the question comes up again, there’d be something to reference.
By by the way, I believe on the wahoo head units, there’s still some scaling adjustments they need to do. Right now, detected cars show up in the middle of the screen and not from the bottom of the screen as they do on the garmin units from reports of wahoo head unit users. I believe GPLama has a wahoo head unit varia setup video if you want to have a visual quick start guide.

While we're discussing e-stuff and electronics and such and ways to spend money, I snagged a used Power2Max crank for my ICE VTX (trike). Besides eTap, with the power meter, I now probably have the most electrified trike around, barring an e-assist motor. Ain't ready for that, yet.

This is starting to make sense.
Especially as of late, I have been seeing people riding much faster than you would expect them to. They are definitely using some type of assistance.
When you generally ride around 15mph and some guy blows past you at 20+mph, you can usually tell something is off.

Bingo, that's the one. Coffee hadn't fully made its rounds yet earlier.
